Pokémon The Movie: Black and ‘Pokémon The Movie: White PLUS Easter DVD Giveaway

Pokemon The start of the week saw the release of the special double-pack Pokemon The Movie Black and Pokemon The Movie White. The two feature length films feature Ash, Pikachu and friends as they set out on new adventures.

Mythical Pokemon Victini befriends Ash and the gang when they enter a battle competition at Eindoak Town but problems arise when Victini is seized by Damon. Ash needs to step up to the plate and a enlist the help of the legend that is Reshiram to rescue Victini and save Eindoak Town.

Now personally, I have to hold my hands up and say that I have never watched a single episode of Pokemon but I do know that it has been one of Curly’s favourites for a very long time. If like me you don’t really know much about Pokemon then help is at hand as I happen to have a rather handy cheat sheet for parents which will have your children thinking you are the coolest parents EVER!

· The Pokémon universe includes more than 640 creatures that players can collect, trade, train and use in battle against their rivals in the quest to become excellent Pokémon Trainers

· Each Pokémon is classified by a specific type – such as Fire, Water, Grass, Psychic or fighting – and each type has its own strengths and weaknesses in a rock-paper-scissors balance

· Pokémon are never seriously harmed in these battles – they merely faint, returning to their Poké Balls to rest until they can be healed

· The Pokémon animated series follows a boy named Ash on his journey to become a Pokémon Master. Ash travels with his best friend and first Pokémon, Pikachu. Along the way, he makes friends who join him on the journey, embarks on adventures, and constantly works to better himself and his Pokémon

· Game play options means that players can trade Pokémon with other players, transfer Pokémon from one game to another, and can play either solo or with others

· Pokémon The Movie: Black—Victini and Reshiram and Pokémon The Movie: White—Victini and Zekrom is the 14th full-length movie in the Pokémon storyline

AND if your young Pokemon fan wants to take their hobby to the next level, why not think about starting a Pokemon collection? Child Experts recommend ‘collections’ as hobbies because it can develop important skills such as concentration and patience. What better way to spend quality time with your children than focusing on building a collection together?

Check out these top tips for starting your collection:

  • Collecting Pokémon soft toys are a great place to start any collection – they are easy to find and affordable
  • Set your sights high and go after the rare Pokémon – they can often be found on Japanese auction sites or available through specialist collectors – ask your parents to help you get online
  • Sites such as eBay are a great way to track down items that were released in UK, Europe, America or Australia
  • Car boot sales and flea markets are great fun and you can often find Pokémon merchandise hiding amongst other household items
  • Use a middleman when using Japanese auction sites – they can help with translation and you can make significant savings on rare items – ask your parents to help with this
  • Keep an eye out for giveaway promotions that take place in Japan – they sometimes last a few months or a few days

Tiger Press Books Review & Giveaway

The Very Messy Monkey, The Very Silly Sheep, The Very Busy Bear – these are all books from Little Tiger Press in Little Bean’s book collection that I get asked to read regularly and are books which I actually enjoy reading too, they are filled with bright colourful pictures of animals with friendly faces. The stories are usually funny and they really appeal to Little Bean.

I was recently asked if we would like to review some of the new releases in the Little Tiger Press library and so of course we just had to say yes.

image image The Monkey with a Bright Blue Bottom is without doubt my favourite of the books we received. Written by award-winning author Steve Smallman, The Monkey with a Bright Blue Bottom is the story of a cheeky monkey who stumbles upon a paintbox and decides to have some fun. As is often the case though, his foray with fun backfires and the tables are turned on him. The book is full of beautiful bright pictures and comes with an audio CD of the story narrated by Sophie Thompson and our favourite funny man, Justin Fletcher. We have chosen to keep the audio CD’s in the car to make journeys a little bit more interesting so now we can get double the fun from a favourite bedtime story.

image image Other great books newly released with an audio CD recorded by Justin Fletcher include The Very Greedy Bee; the story of the Bee who spent his days feasting on pollen and not sharing with his friends until one day when he had a little too much and Smelly Peter, the Great Pea Eater; a book which most children would fail to enjoy. A green boy who eats too many peas and gets a little windy, a topic which children always find funny and appealing.

We have had the books for a little over a week and so far I have had to read them EVERY night at bedtime and still Little Bean shows no sign of tiring of them.

To find out more about the great titles Little Tiger Press has to offer you can follow them on Facebook or watch them on their YouTube channel. They also have a fab section on their Website called Kids Corner where there are activities, downloadable colouring sheets, games and more to keep your youngsters entertained – perfect for the school holidays!

If you would like to win a set of these three books for that favourite child in your life then Mummy Matters is very happy to be able to offer a giveaway, just follow the instructions on Rafflecopter below.

Minene Child Bag Review and Competition

A girl can never have too many bags right? Well, I’m starting that tradition young with Little Bean, she is as big a fan of bags as her Mummy is and has bags for different occasions. The latest bag to add to her collection is this beautiful Child Bag from Minene which is Cream with Big Flowers.

Minene Child Bag

Little Bean has really put her new bag to the test over the last couple of weeks as we have been out and about all over the place. We have had a couple of trips to London on the train and so it has been her companion carrying all her travel essentials; snacks, drink, Leapster Explorer, colour books, crayons and finally a teddy bear for when she wanted to snuggle down.

Last weekend she took her bag to Nanna’s for a sleepover and used it to carry her favourite soft toys, comic and a few toys that she couldn’t bear to be parted from. Then on Friday we went out shopping and she said that she NEEDED to take her bag too “in case I do some shopping too Mummy” although I wasn’t sure where she was getting her spending money from?

Minene Child Bag

The Minene Child Bag is the perfect size for preschoolers and upwards as it has adjustable straps and more than enough room for those childhood essentials whatever yours may be. It is made from a wipe-clean material and has a beautiful pink and white polka dot lining. There are pockets on the sides for drinks bottles or sunglasses and a little pocket on the front which could have a favourite picture or even their very own pretend train ticket. There are bags for girls and boys with a design to suit even the pickiest of youngsters! The Minene Child Bag is the perfect accompaniment for the child on the move, it would make an ideal purchase for holidays in the UK or abroad, great for carry-on luggage to keep them occupied on a plane or on a trip to the beach.
