September 16, 2019 By: Sabina Green 22 Comments

In a world where our children’s heads are ducked into their smartphones, it does not make them protected even if they are under the same roof as you. Their smartphones are a window to the outside world, so to get in trouble, they don’t have to be physically outside anymore. Even if you are around […]

January 28, 2019 By: Sabina Green 7 Comments

When taking your kid to a park, a playground or any other location, the first thing that you do as a parent is to make an ocular assessment of the risks and hazards in the place. Fortunately, you never stay in these places for too long, which means that it’s fairly easy for you to […]

September 14, 2018 By: Sabina Green 0 Comments

Playing is essential for kids as they are growing older. It is in their nature to play, and you need to allow them to spend time playing. My 'baby' is definitely not a baby anymore. Next w My 'baby' is definitely not a baby anymore. Next weekend he turns 8 and he really does feel like he is growing up fast.
.
Because of his health problems growing up it has felt like he has been a younger for longer or perhaps its just because he is the youngest?!
.
Last week we were finally able to stop the medication he has been on since he was 18 months old, it felt like a huge milestone for us and he jumped for joy when he was told too. Fingers crossed we can now put that stressful part of our lives behind us at last.
.
This morning he had a wellbeing zoom session with his class. He made me laugh when he marched into my bedroom dressed in his tshirt and denim jacket with the collar turned up. He said "I thought I would make an effort for my zoom so I have dressed 'cool' ♥"
.
I'm not sure I am ready for all my babies to grow up yet!! 😭

#ad-gifted . It's been a STEM learning kind of aft #ad-gifted
.
It's been a STEM learning kind of afternoon. Don't worry, we haven't been mean parents making the children homeschool on the weekend.
.
The boys were sent the telescope from @byokits so they spent the afternoon with Dad building it and loved it.
.
They had fun looking through it during daylight but were most excited to try it to see the moon tonight... so of course it's cloudy tonight and they couldn't see a thing.
.
Nevermind, we will try again every night at bedtime until we get to see it ❤️
.
They had so much fun building the telescope with Dad. The kit comes pre-cut in thick and thin card so it is lightweight and eco-friendly. It has two lenses and a mirror offering 16x magnification. I will tell you moee about it on the blog very soon.
.
At the opposite end of the kitchen Lillie was busy making slime, she has had mixed results with her slime in the past but today it was complete success which meant Lillie was very happy indeed.
.

More walking by the river today, there is so much More walking by the river today, there is so much water the levels were high which meant the locks were flowing fast and loud!!
.
The boys were worried the swans were going to get swept down at the locks but they just smugly glided up and then swam away like it was nothing. Don't you just wish sometimes you could hold your head high like a swan does? 😂
.
Albie was very excited to see one of his teachers out walking today, he was keen to tell her to "go and see the River it's SO cool" 🤣🤣
.
Not much else to report on today, its been a quiet day of rest and relaxation all round. The Beans have all been busy doing art so the house has felt very peaceful indeed 🙏
.
Happy Saturday everyone ♥

Lillie - this is the little beauty who made me a M Lillie - this is the little beauty who made me a Mummy way back in 2008.  It's hard to believe that she turns 13 this year, I'm not sure I'm ready for a teenage daughter!!
.
Today on the blog I have turned back the clock and am talking about about the essentials you need to consider when you have or are expecting a newborn. Despite the nearly 13 years I still remember it all like it was yesterday and love nothing better than to scroll through the thousands of photos we have taken over the years.
.
I have friends who are expecting babies at the moment (I also have a gorgeous new nephew who I am still yet to meet thanks to Covid) and I would be lying if I said that it doesn't still make me broody.  I love newborn cuddles and the toddler years but if I am honest, I love all the years because they all bring something new.
.
If you're expecting or know someone who is then pop over and check the post out, it might just give you a pearl of wisdom that you hadn't already considered.

A snow day for my Beans!! . The last few times we A snow day for my Beans!!
.
The last few times we have had snow the children have all been at school and the snow has disappeared before they got a chance to play.
.
Today the snow came just as they were finishing their homeschooling so now they are outside making the most it and having a blast.
.
I had to pop out to get my flu jab and couldn't resist a quick photo walk whilst I was out of the house.
.
This beautiful thatched cottage had its roof replaced before Christmas and looked so pretty today in the snow. If you look carefully you might just be able to make out the 🦊 (obviously not a real one) on the roof ♥
.
It really looks like it has been sprinkled with icing sugar doesn't it?
.
Only one more day until the weekend and that will mean we are two weeks down with homeschooling. We can do this 🤗

The homeschooling roller-coaster continues... . Fi The homeschooling roller-coaster continues...
.
Firstly let me say that I am one of the lucky ones, my husband works from home two days a week to help me with homeschooling. I didn't even have to ask him.
.
That doesn't mean he find it easy by any stretch of the imagination as he is essentially working from home too and doing accounts with children is a challenge.
.
We both try to work in the evenings to free up some time (and patience) for the daytime.
.
Lillie is now on live lessons for most of her classes which is much better and Ollie is pretty self sufficient, although he did have a few wobbles yesterday.
.
Albie, at nearly 8, is understandably the one who needs most of our help and that can be a mixed bag depending on which side of the bed he woke up on.
.
Yesterday he woke up on the procrastination side, today he was very much on the positive mental attitude side and has nailed his homeschooling.
.
This afternoon he has Spanish and luckily Lillie is a bit of a pro at it so she is helping him with that and then we are done for the day.
.
If I could give one piece of advice for homeschool it would be to pick your battles. If they have reached a point where they are stressed out, stop and take a break because the brain doesn't function well for learning when stressed. We set a timer for 10 mins to go away, clear their head and then try again. It doesn't work every time but most times it helps.
.
Good luck xx
