I LOVE the sunshine, I’ve always been a sun worshipper and would jump at the chance to just bask in the sunshine. Now that I am 30 weeks pregnant I’m trying to find as many air-conditioned places as possible as I just don’t seem to be able to regulate my body temperature.
Getting bigger
I vowed at the beginning of this pregnancy that I would try to stay as active as possible so as not to pile on the 3-4 stones that I packed on last time when I was pregnant with Little Bean but its near impossible for me right now.
Earlier this week I decided to be “healthy” and park my car at one end of town, walk all the way into town, have a meander through the shops and then head back. In my stupidity I also promised Little Bean that we could stop off to play at the park and let’s face it – they NEVER forget!
Call me Worzel!
By the time I had got into town, I felt just about ready to collapse. Every inch of my clothes felt like they had just come out of the tumble dryer they were so warm and my head felt like I’d put on one of Worzel Gummidge’s by mistake. Somehow I managed to put one foot in front of the other and wind my way back to the park but once there I just had to let Little Bean run wild whilst I slowly died on the bench. Thankfully our park is properly railed all the way around so she was safe enough.
Growing a baby is tiring
By the time we finally made our way home I felt too exhausted to do anything and just sank into the sofa. Who would have thought that just carrying a tiny human being in your tummy would make you so hot!
Apparently this weekend is supposed to be the hottest weekend of the year so far, normally I will be running for my bikini shouting Yippee!! But (a) I’m too big to run and (b) I wouldn’t be seen dead in a bikini at the moment!
So come on Mummies/Mummies-to-be, tell me how do you stay cool in the heat? I’d love to be rich enough to have a swimming pool in my back garden but that’s not going to happen. I can just about fit my feet into Little Bean’s paddling pool but that’s it I’m afraid!
Now please excuse me whilst I go and lay on the nice cold tiled floor!
I really feel for you, this time 2 years ago I was 4 days overdue with H and the heat was like this. How did I cope? Well in all honestly I couldn’t tell you – I guess for me I had hope that she would come any day so every day could have been the last of heat agony! If i remember rightly I sat in the house with fan pointed at me most of the time – only going out for school runs. Unfortunatley, and you won’t want to hear this, I have never really been able to cope with the heat since!!
Noooooo don’t tell me that, I looooove the sunshine! I too have been sitting in front of a fan – I tried sitting out in the sunshine yesterday morning to attempt a bit of a tan ready for my cousins wedding in a couple of weeks but only last half hour before returning to my fan. Oh well, fake tan it is then!!
Great idea, thanks for this post!
