Postcard from . . . Burghley House, Stamford

We are so lucky to have Burghley House almost on our doorstep. It’s free to walk, scoot or cycle through the beautiful grounds or enjoy picnics on the vast expanse of lawns. You have to pay to visit the actual house or to go into the Sculpture Gardens and Gardens of Surprises.

Burghley House

We never take these views for granted and I have lost count of the number of photographs I have taken here over the years.

Burghley House was built by William Cecil over 500 years ago and is still occupied by direct descendants today. Their youngest child was born around the same time as Jelly Bean. It always makes me wonder how different our respective lives are, even with the similarities.

Where do you love to visit when you want some time away from home with your family?
