I was lucky with Little Bean; her teeth came quickly – no messy nappies, no nappy rash, no sleepless nights. Every now and then, we would just look at her and see a new tooth sparkling back at us. I think that is possibly due to the fact that she was over a year old before her teeth began to cut, so perhaps she could tell us when something was wrong. But with Beanie Boy, he had his first six teeth when he was around 9 months old, and they gave him grief for a good few weeks. I had pretty much forgotten about his teeth until the last couple of weeks when he had started to mess about with his meals and, during naps, would wake up screaming out loud and then sobbing uncontrollably until I was by his side to give him a cuddle and make it better.
I have tried various different teething remedies to help him, but he’s not overly keen on the taste of many of them, so I was keen to try the Cheek Rub Oil from Organic Monkey.
Organic Monkey Cheek Rub Oil is an ‘industry first’ and must-have for every organic baby. More and more parents want to make sure that their baby has only the purest of ingredients, so why should teething remedies be any different? The Cheek Rub Oil is made from the finest food-grade oils and is Fairtrade and Organic certified.
The oil is made up of a soothing blend of 100% organic ingredients combining Arnica, Sweet Almond, Olive, and Sunflower Oils with organic Roman Chamomile, Lavender, and Spearmint essential oils to help calm babies and relieve the symptoms of teething. The Cheek Rub Oil is for use externally on the cheek; just put a few drops on your finger and gently rub it onto your baby’s cheek so that it is not directly ingested.
The Star Ingredients
Organic Arnica Oil is well known for its anti-inflammatory properties, and so aids sore gum.
Organic lavender oil has healing properties, and of course, every parent knows the magic of lavender to calm a stressed-out baby.
Organic Roman Chamomile Oil has pain-relieving properties and encourages relaxation.
Organic spearmint oil is antiseptic and has stimulating properties to uplift and reduce stress.
Now that Beanie Boy is cutting his 7th tooth, I’ve had the opportunity to test the effectiveness of the Organic Monkey Cheek Rub Oil, and I’m pleasantly surprised by its positive impact on my little one. Despite liking the idea of not giving him another medicine or putting more chemicals into his mouth, I could see how rubbing oil on his cheek would help his teeth, but it has worked. Beanie Boy is a very tactile little person and has always been very receptive to baby massage, so when I rubbed the Cheek Rub onto his face, he laid back and happily accepted a little tender loving care from his Mummy before nodding back off to sleep.
The Organic Monkey Cheek Rub Oil is presented in a recycled glass bottle and costs £7.50 for 30 ml, but as with all aromatherapy remedies, a little goes a very long way, so I know that this will be well worth the money.

How to Spot Teething: Look out for these common first signs:
· chewing on their or your finger, toys or any other objects they get hold of
· red cheeks, swollen gums and excessive dribbling
· loss of appetite – refusing to eat or drink due to the pain
· restless sleep, mood changes and feelings of irritability
· pulling on their ears – the pain in the mouth throbs throughout baby’s head so they pull their ears believing that it will provide relief
