Let’s talk about dreams . . .

Dreams have always intrigued me and as a teenager I read lots of books on how to interpret your dreams. Now that I am a Mum, dreams have become a topic of conversation once more. When Jelly Bean comes to see me in a morning, the first thing he says to me is “morning Mummy, good sleep? Nice dreams?”. To be honest I don’t always remember my dreams these days, although I have had a few dreams recently where I have won the lottery, only to be disappointed a few hours later when I wake up and realise that it was all just a dream.

When I was driving to my sister’s house last week with the Beans for a short break, Little Bean sat in the front of the car with me and we were talking whilst the boys were sleeping peacefully in the back. Little Bean was pretty quiet and so I asked her if she had been sleeping well as she looked very tired. She said that she has been having lots of dreams and a few nightmares recently and feels very tired when she wakes up in a morning. I asked her if she could remember any of her dreams or nightmares when she wakes up. She said that sometimes she could and others she couldn’t but just knew that she felt scared or upset when she woke in the morning.

I suggested that on the days when she could remember them it might be a good idea to write them down in a kind of dream journal to see if there is a pattern to her dreams or a common issue which keeps coming up which might relate to her daily life. Dreams are a really good indicator of how you feel subconsciously as they tend to reiterate the issues which are spinning around in your mind.

I have been told that there is a fun video soon to be published about dreams which has been created by Adjustamatic who said;

Dreams are a magical thing; a product of each and everyone of our imaginations; a subconscious world to enjoy.

We have filmed children talking about their dreams (hilarious), and then spoke to dream expert, Ian Wallace to find out a bit more about the meaning of dreams.

I’m really looking forward to seeing this video and watching it with Little Bean to see if it helps her to understand her dreams a little more and once again enjoy a peaceful nights’ sleep. I shall be sure to share it with you as soon as it is ready.

Do you have a favourite or recurring dream that you would like to share? I would love to know what other people dream . . .
