Look Great Without Breaking the Bank

How to Be Stylish on a Budget

When you love to shop it can be easy to go overboard and spend more money than originally planned. It is so easy to go over your limit, especially when there are so many different shops out there for you to browse! It may sound easier said than done, but sometimes when money is tight and you can’t really afford a whole new outfit there are ways to still keep up with the fashion. So, how do you achieve a stylish look while sticking to a budget? We’ve teamed up with Alterations Boutique, experts in all things alterations, to give you some help with how to be stylish on a budget. Keep reading for a few top tips.

Clothing Alterations

Alterations

You’ll be surprised at how many clothes you have in your wardrobe that you love and haven’t worn for years. Go through your wardrobe and pick out some of your old favourites and give them another shot. You might find that some of the items don’t fit you quite right anymore, but don’t throw them out! Instead, give them some TLC and they will feel as good as new. Clothing alterations can be the difference in an old outfit you used to like to something you can’t wait to put on every day. Take it to a professional seamstress who will be able to get your perfect measurements and tailor the item to you. They can even make some design changes to revamp the outfit!

Accessorise

Believe it or not, accessories really do make all the difference to an outfit. Whether it’s a striking necklace, stylish belt or pair of stand out shoes, there is something about a special accessory that can turn a basic outfit into a fashion statement. Choose accessories that you can match with multiple outfits to help with the tight budget instead of buying multiple for different outfits. With the right top or accessory, you can transform most outfits to match any occasion.

Choose Cheaper Options

If you are looking for something specific and can’t find an alternative you already own, but still don’t want to break the bank, head to a cheaper store. This can be a shop on the high street that is cheaper than where you would regularly buy from, or you could try a charity shop. Charity shops are a great place to get high-quality second-hand clothes for a great price while giving money to a great cause.

So that’s my top tips for keeping your style up to date without breaking the bank. How do you keep stylish while on a tight budget? Let me know in the comments below!

  1. Good ideas here to be stylish without breaking the bank. I love the idea of repurposing and altering clothes to make them what you want of them now. Sometimes, you also need to look at the back of the cupboard 🙂

  2. I should take on board some of these tips! I’m desperate to vamp up my wardrobe but lack a bit of imagination. I will try a few accessories and see how I go!

  3. I’ve got a couple of favourite denim dresses that are starting to wear thin in places. I’ve been thinking about getting some embroidery done to cover that and extend their life span.
