Not once in my adult years did I ever think I would find it difficult to buy cleaning products for my home but the onset of Covid-19 certainly saw to that. In the weeks before lockdown, it became a running joke about how empty the shelves were in the cleaning aisles as the nation went mad on cleaning their homes in a bid to keep their families safe.
I’m pleased to say that as time has gone on it has become easier to source but one place many people might not have thought to look is via largescale commercial suppliers like Viking Direct. Most people in business will know Viking for supplying their office stationery, I know that’s where I recognise them from, but Viking also has a large range of cleaning and hygiene products too.
When they contacted me to ask if we would like to review some of their cleaning products on the blog, I went with the Delphis Eco Cleaning Set (well it is what they use in the Royal households too you know – so if it’s good enough for Liz, it’s good enough for me and my Beans).
Who are Delphis Eco?
Delphis was created by Mark Jankovich, CEO of Delphis Eco. In 1992 Mark relocated from his home town in South Africa to London where he began working for free until he could find a permanent paid role. 15 years later he was in charge of Coutts & Co’s Investment Sales, Charity and Philanthropy Department.
In 2007 Mark decided it was time to show that business could operate responsibly and sustainably whilst still making a profit. On his search for something better, he came across a business in Hong Kong who were making solvent-free paint and in Australia a company making cleaning products from gum tree extracts. Mark made it his mission to create a product even bigger and better in every way, he wanted the brand to be 100% sustainable and 100% made in the UK, Delphis Eco had arrived.
Delphis Eco Cleaning Set
I chose to review the Delphis Eco Cleaning Set because it covered all of the essentials for cleaning a busy family home. Included within the set are:
- Super Active Washing Up Liquid
- Anti-Bacterial Hand Soap
- Washing Powder
- Daily Use Toilet Cleaner
- Anti-bacterial Sanister
- Washroom Cleaner
- X-Factor Cleaner
- Bio-Fizzy Tablets
Why should you choose Delphis Eco?
- Delphis Eco cleaning products are derived from 100% plant-based sustainable and renewable resources
- they support UK manufacturing being 100% formulated, made and packaged in the UK
- bottles are made from 100% recycled plastic with biodegradable labels printed using vegetable ink
- packaging boxes are made from 100% recycled cardboard
- they are readily biodegradable reducing impact on aquatic life
Furthermore, Delphis Eco products have been proven effective in commercial cleaning settings such as shopping centres, schools, universities, catering, contract cleaners and even at London Zoo! Did I mention it also has two Royal Warrants from HRM Queen Elizabeth II and HRH the Prince of Wales?!
Putting it to the test
We have been using Delphis Eco for a couple of weeks now and as I’m sure you can imagine, with a family of 6 there are plenty of places to clean regularly. Our kitchen, bathrooms and bedrooms have a lot of traffic. Try as we might our Beans just do not seem to understand that dirty washing goes IN the laundry bin, rubbish goes IN the laundry bin, not next to it, or even in the vicinity of, that dirty dishes go IN the dishwashers not somewhere in the kitchen (or bedroom) or even in and around the kitchen sink.
They also don’t seem to grasp the concept of ‘if you spill it, mop it up’ so Delphis Eco has had its’ work cut out!
Favourite product
My favourite product is probably the Bio-Fizzy tablets for keeping the drains and toilets clean. I pop one in a sink each day with the plug in, half fill with water and allow the tablet to dissolve fully before removing the plug and draining away whilst cleaning the drains at the same time.
You can also drop one in the toilet to give it a deep clean, we have been using the toilet cleaner to clean up and under the rim and then popping a Bio Fizzy into the bowl to clean under the water.
Parent’s best friend
The powerful foamy cleaner is fantastic for spot cleaning to remove sticky residue, scuff marks, Biro and the nemesis of parents – permanent marker pen!! Oh how I wish I had this when Albie decided to draw all over the walls, leather sofa, radiators and picture frames with a black Sharpie!!!
The X-Factor cleaner has come in handy when our puppy Dobby has become overexcited and done little tiddles on the floors or carpet. Since the cleaners do not contain ammonia, they are perfect for cleaning up animal urine because the animals are not encouraged back by the smell of urine to go the same spot again.
Ecological Wash Powder
Both Lillie and Albie have sensitive skin so we have to be careful with the wash powder we use as some can aggravate. The Delphis Eco hasn’t upset their skin at all and offers effective cleaning at low temperatures. I try to do the majority of my washing at 30 degrees now apart from heavily soiled items or things like bedding and towels so this is a winner for me.
Conclusion
On the whole we have been really impressed with the full Delphis Eco Cleaning set, they all offer a gentle but fresh aroma, they clean well helping me to keep our house a safe haven for my family and they are safe for the environment too. I’m not sure what else you could really ask for.
I need some of these in our cupboard! Definitely going to check these out
I would highly recommend them, they are fantastic.
The XFactor Cleaner sounds like a dream product for parents. I know our house has suffered with extra stains thanks to the kids being stuck inside more.
It certainly is, I think parents should be given a bottle inside their Bounty packs at hospital haha x
I remember the day I went in to find nothing on the shelves! Madness! I have started ordering things instead now like huge bottles of bleach and shampoo. Great that these are eco friendly – sounds like these are worth a try.
There is something to be said for these past few months, we have all learnt new (and hopefully better) ways of living x
Thank you for sharing this. I am looking at overhauling my cleaning chemical use. And going eco friendly is the exact way I hope to go x
It definitely feels better to be using something which is better all-round for our planet and the animals on it x
I think a lot of us are trying to be more eco friendly. Thanks for sharing.
If we all do our bit it helps, doesn’t it 🙂
I love eco products… and these look like a viable option… I’ll definitely check them out the next time I need supplies.
These are definitely top of my list now, I love everything about them.
The whole range sounds fabulous. I never knew Viking stocked cleaning products. We use METHOD but may have to give these a go.
I never really gave it any thought that anyone could order from Viking, I had only associated it with business.
I’d never heard of this range before, it sounds really good, especially the toilet tablets. Will have to check it out.
I must admit I hadn’t heard of them either but I’m pleased to have found such an eco-friendly brand.
Sounds great. I am really interested in cleaning products that are good for the environment and always prepared to pay that bit more for them.
I’ve never heard of Delphis before but they sound fab. I always try to use eco-friendly cleaning products wherever possible, so I’d definitely give them a try 🙂
Louise x
I hadn’t heard of them either but I am very impressed so far x
These look like great cleaning products. I’ve not heard of the brand before so I’ll have to keep and eye out for them. I usually find that eco products are much more friendly for our sensitive skin.
