If you were to look at photographs of Hubby as a young boy and look at Curly, they are the spitting image of each other, right down to the curly hair that was white blonde and got darker with age. They are very similar in their physique too, Hubby used to be one of the smaller children at school but as he hit senior school he began to shoot up and I think it will be the same for Curly. At the moment he looks quite small against his peer group but if he carries on eating the way that he does at the moment he consumes it won’t be long before he will be looking down on them.
When it comes to dressing them both, their wardrobes are pretty similar too. Hubby would love to be a ‘surf dude’ but really, it’s just not him, he is a smart person who suits smarter clothes and Curly is exactly the same. For as long as I have known Curly (since the age of 2) he has always preferred to wear shirts and trousers/jeans or collared t-shirts and they really suit him.
A couple of weeks ago I was asked if they would be interested in reviewing a couple of Polo Shirts for Original Penguin and I knew that these would be right up their street. Original Penguin offer a wide variety of clothing, footwear and accessories for men, women, and children with a 1950’s heritage feel. They had a browse around on the website and even chose coordinating Polo Shirts from the Mens and childrens’ ranges and I think you will agree that they look very smart indeed.
This weekend when Curly was here it was all about the Rugby on the TV so they took it as their opportunity to spend a bit of father/son bonding time and even decided to carry the theme through to their mini photo-shoot (all their own staging!) apart from the mini Basketball that Hubby managed to wrestle off of Beanie Boy. All of my boys are smart boys so pop back in a few years time and perhaps there will be a couple of extra boys in their Original Penguin Polo Shirts!
Both Hubby and Curly are ‘blue’ boys, it’s a colour which really suits their skin tone and it’s pretty much the colour that they always choose for themselves. Hubby’s Polo Shirt has a lighter blue cotton collar and detail on the sleeves which is just enough to add a bit more interest to what would otherwise be a plain shirt. Hubby did say however that he felt the sizing wasn’t overly generous, either that or he has been ‘snacking’ a little more than he should have been recently (personally I think it could be a little bit of both). Hubby was surprised by just how much choice was available on the website, far more colourways than he expected that’s for sure. Curly opted for the chunky stripes with a splash of pink to break up the blue and both shirts feature the Original Penguin logo. Both shirts are of very good quality material and are nice and lightweight which will be good for keeping them cool in the hot summer weather we are hoping for this year.
Thank you Original Penguin, you have made two ‘big kids’ very happy indeed as we mainly review products for the smaller children or myself, it was nice for them to get a special treat too.
