I bought Little Bean her first Zhu Zhu pet hamster a few weeks ago as she had been such a good girl for me on a day out which wasn’t really very exciting for her and she loved it. I have to be honest and say that I hadn’t really paid any attention to them before seeing them in the shop that day but it has become an instant hit, even Beanie Boy loves it, so its not surprising to learn that they won Toy of the Year in 2010.
On 17th October Zhu Zhu Pets: Quest for Zhu, the first ever Zhu Zhu Pets DVD was released on DVD and Blu-Ray courtesy of Universal Films and we were lucky enough to be sent one to review. I challenge anyone to watch this and not be drawn in by the oh-so-cute hamster characters with their big eyes and bulging cheeks, with super-cute squeaky voices in a story of friendship and adventure. Four teenage (hamster) friends head off on the adventure of a lifetime as they search for the Palace of Zhu where they believe all their dreams will come true.
Pipsqueak is swept away on a shooting star to the other side of the Zhuniverse, this feature length film follows Pipsqueak as she meets new friends Chunk, Mr Squiggles and Nums Nums. They battle their way through the Amazhun Jungle filled with savage Zhus, they cross nail-biting snow capped mountains, encounter ferocious Zhurasics, saber-tooth hamsters and even a giant yeti hamster!!
Upon arriving at the Palace of Zhu the brave teen tribe think their journey is finally over but really this is just the beginning . . .
We have watched this almost every day since we received it and Little Bean even insisted on taking it to Nanna’s for a sleepover at the weekend (Nanna was quite taken with it too). This DVD has been more than just a hit, its become a member of the family!!
