Helping Your Dog Stay Fit and Healthy

All dog owners want their pups to be happy and healthy, but just like you, they need to be in a good routine if they will stay in great shape. As a dog owner, part of your responsibility is managing this routine and keeping a lookout for signs that your dog might not be feeling well, or if they are becoming overweight, etc. If you have only recently welcomed a dog into your home or you are planning to soon, here are some top tips that you will find useful for keeping your dog fit and healthy.

Diet

The first place to start is by looking at your dog’s diet. Various dog food brands are available that can offer your pet all the nutrition they need, but remember that different sizes and breeds of dogs might have more specific dietary requirements. Your dog should be fed twice a day, in the morning and the evening. Try to stick to feeding your dog at the same time each day to help maintain a good routine. If you’re bringing a puppy home, they usually need feeding more regularly throughout the day until they are grown. If in doubt, ask your vet for advice.

Exercise

You must be willing to commit to walking your dog every day or at least have the budget to pay a professional dog walker to do it for you. This is essential to their well-being and keeping them fit. Again, the size and breed of your dog will determine how long it needs to go walking a day, whether it’s one long hike or going out multiple times during the day for shorter periods. Playing with your dog is another fun way to help them get extra physical activity during the day, even if it’s just running around your backyard with them or playing fetch with a ball.

Dog Walkers

Dog walkers provide an invaluable service for busy pet owners. With most people leading hectic lives, it can be difficult to find the time to give their furry friend the exercise and attention that they need. A professional dog walker can provide regular walks, ensuring that your canine companion stays healthy and happy. As well as providing exercise and stimulation, dog walkers also offer an opportunity for socialization with other dogs. A reliable and experienced dog walker can make all the difference in the life of your four-legged friend.

Additionally, if you are away from home for long periods of time, it can be hard to provide your dog with the exercise and companionship they need. Finally, if you have a large breed of dog, you may not have the physical strength necessary to take them for a walk or run. Supplements

Dog supplements

Your dog should be getting the majority of their nutrients from a balanced diet, but occasionally they might need a boost, particularly if they are an older dog. Just like humans talk about vitamin and mineral supplements to help them stay healthy and feel good, your dog can also benefit from ones created especially for them. For example, look at these dog joint supplements if you have noticed that your dog seems to be struggling to move as actively as it used to. They might have developed arthritis or a similar painful condition as these supplements can help. However, always speak to your dog’s vet first to get an official diagnosis and treatment plan.

Regular Health Checks

Speaking of the vets, you must ensure you’re keeping up with regular health checks for your dog. Not only can a vet help you with treatments for fleas and ticks or getting your dog neutered or spade, but they can also catch early signs of illnesses that might develop so you can treat the condition before it worsens. If you want to live happily ever after with your new best friend, follow these simple steps to keep your dog fit, healthy, and happy.

  1. These are some really good tips and it’s so important to look after our pets, in fact I had to take my dog to the vet today as she has a sore eye but I took her sooner rather than later so it’s easier to treat
