Well, this morning I went for my scan and was told the devastating news that our much-longed-for baby had definitely stopped growing some weeks ago. It would appear that I had suffered a “missed miscarriage”. Apparently some of the symptoms of a missed miscarriage are similar to pregnancy symptoms so that would explain why I have still been feeling “pregnant”. As the fetus dies and breaks down you can suffer from fatigue and nausea. Such a cruel trick that nature can play on you!
I now have to make the decision on how I would like my pregnancy to be dealt with – what a fun choice to make, NOT!! You can either have “Conservative Management” where you let Mother Nature do her stuff. Medical Evacuation where you have to take tablets to make you miscarry properly or Surgical Evacuation where (in the doctor’s words) they basically suck the pregnancy out with a vacuum!
Friends and Family
I want to say thank you to my family and friends who have been a great support to me over the past week and especially today, your words are all very comforting xx
Dads grieve too
Simon just keeps hugging me telling me how sorry he is like it’s his fault – which of course it isn’t. And I remind him that this is his loss too. I think sometimes our husbands/partners get forgotten about and all the emphasis is on the woman. Of course, it’s hard for us, it is our bodies that are going through it but just like in labour, our Husband’s feeling lost and a little useless as there is nothing that they can do.
At the end of the day, they ultimately feel it is their job to protect us and this is the one time they can do nothing. So to my Hubby, I’m sorry too! Let’s just hope that we can have a happy healthy pregnancy soon and finally complete our brood of gorgeous children! xxx
