Pokémon The Movie: Black and ‘Pokémon The Movie: White PLUS Easter DVD Giveaway

Pokemon The start of the week saw the release of the special double-pack Pokemon The Movie Black and Pokemon The Movie White. The two feature length films feature Ash, Pikachu and friends as they set out on new adventures.

Mythical Pokemon Victini befriends Ash and the gang when they enter a battle competition at Eindoak Town but problems arise when Victini is seized by Damon. Ash needs to step up to the plate and a enlist the help of the legend that is Reshiram to rescue Victini and save Eindoak Town.

Now personally, I have to hold my hands up and say that I have never watched a single episode of Pokemon but I do know that it has been one of Curly’s favourites for a very long time. If like me you don’t really know much about Pokemon then help is at hand as I happen to have a rather handy cheat sheet for parents which will have your children thinking you are the coolest parents EVER!

· The Pokémon universe includes more than 640 creatures that players can collect, trade, train and use in battle against their rivals in the quest to become excellent Pokémon Trainers

· Each Pokémon is classified by a specific type – such as Fire, Water, Grass, Psychic or fighting – and each type has its own strengths and weaknesses in a rock-paper-scissors balance

· Pokémon are never seriously harmed in these battles – they merely faint, returning to their Poké Balls to rest until they can be healed

· The Pokémon animated series follows a boy named Ash on his journey to become a Pokémon Master. Ash travels with his best friend and first Pokémon, Pikachu. Along the way, he makes friends who join him on the journey, embarks on adventures, and constantly works to better himself and his Pokémon

· Game play options means that players can trade Pokémon with other players, transfer Pokémon from one game to another, and can play either solo or with others

· Pokémon The Movie: Black—Victini and Reshiram and Pokémon The Movie: White—Victini and Zekrom is the 14th full-length movie in the Pokémon storyline

AND if your young Pokemon fan wants to take their hobby to the next level, why not think about starting a Pokemon collection? Child Experts recommend ‘collections’ as hobbies because it can develop important skills such as concentration and patience. What better way to spend quality time with your children than focusing on building a collection together?

Check out these top tips for starting your collection:

  • Collecting Pokémon soft toys are a great place to start any collection – they are easy to find and affordable
  • Set your sights high and go after the rare Pokémon – they can often be found on Japanese auction sites or available through specialist collectors – ask your parents to help you get online
  • Sites such as eBay are a great way to track down items that were released in UK, Europe, America or Australia
  • Car boot sales and flea markets are great fun and you can often find Pokémon merchandise hiding amongst other household items
  • Use a middleman when using Japanese auction sites – they can help with translation and you can make significant savings on rare items – ask your parents to help with this
  • Keep an eye out for giveaway promotions that take place in Japan – they sometimes last a few months or a few days

  1. I don’t have a collection and have this dream of myself being a minimalist, so don’t intend to start one. However, my OH has collections of allsorts of things…photos of public phone boxes around the world, beer bottle tops, things that might come in handy…..(and so on!)

  2. I don’t have a collection (apart from maybe shoes and clothes) but I would like to start one for my little girl, maybe snow globes or spyglasses. Something that could be found in a fairytale 🙂

  3. I collect all things Peter Rabbit! I adored him as a child and over the years I have collected everything from cuddly toys and key rings, to ornaments and trinket boxes!

  4. I would love to collect Russian Dolls but I don’t have enough room at the moment. We will be moving house soon though so you never know . . .

  5. I have a few packs of old cards, picture cards rather than playing cards. If I were to collect anything it would be more of these. The pictures just take me right back to childhood!

  6. I collect comic books.
Don’t knock it if you haven’t tried it – they’re just like regular books, but with only 20 words per page 🙂

  7. Fridge magnets, was given one from a friend who returned from holiday in Cornwall about 20 years ago now. So with out thinking started a collection. All are either given or are promo magnets and we only buy when we away or if they are selling at a special event etc. to date have about 800. Fridge covered and now got magnetic boards in the kitchen to hold the rest.

  8. Oh god, I’ve just realised I’m a really nerdy collector!
    Currently collecting:
Pretty tins (tiny ones – lip balms mainly!)
Postcards – lots of vintage comic ones from the 1920’s & 30’s
Olympic Memorabilia – have recently bought lots of pin badges on Ebay..
7″ vinyl singles (over 3,500 of these!)
Vinyl Albums – a fair few hundred
Vintage & repro Enamel advertising signs

In the loft I have beermat collections, stamps collection, badge collections. Also I photograph and keep copies of vintage advertising and shop signs LOL!

  9. Hi,
I used to collect dolls in national costumes, had quite a collection, but that was a very long time ago. I suppose I could say I collect books: art books and cook books.
    Thank you!

  10. I collect penguins (although much to my disappointment not the real thing, well not at home). It started with a trip to the local wildlife park when I was at infant school. Apparently I cried all the way home because they wouldn’t let me bring a real one home. When the coach arrived back at school my mum wondered what had happened to me as I was crying so much. Ive got a few adoptions and for my 40th birthday my husband arranged for me to be a penguin keeper Birdland, Bourton-on-the-Water (http://www.birdland.co.uk/)and I got the stroke the penguins and feed them. An absolutely fantastic experience that I will never forget.

  11. I’m on the verge of starting a chinese teaset collection. I have 2 due to a gift duplication. Having a cup of tea is me time so i love everything tea related ^_^

  12. I collect fridge magnets…Got loads on the fridge and about a hundred in a box near the fridge that the kids swap and change every now and then 🙂

  13. I have a collection of old sewing equipment and books. Really old books, lots of buttons and other random litte craft pieces which I can’t part with.

  14. I collect absolutely anything and everything that catches my eye!

    I collect:
    Portmeirion Pottery
    Willow Tree Figures
Postcards (I’ve been collecting postcards since I’ve been a little girl and have literally thousands!)
Stickers! (Yes, I know, very strange but I have about 6 sticker albums full!)
    Vintage Magazines
    Costume Jewellery
but would love a huge shoe collection!

  15. I have a collection of frogs; soft toys, ornaments, other household items, even two real ones! I have no idea how this collection started or why as I was rather young when I started!

  16. Hi, I collect kids, have 5 already LOL, no seriously don’t have time to collect anything, but my 7 yr old daughter is obsessed with and collects anything to do with monkeys xxx

  17. I’ve got a collection of cottages. Not real ones unfortunately! I have glass ones, and pottery ones, cottages made from coal and cottages made from chalk. They’re all cute and although they’re probably a bit naff I love them 🙂 @piperanddaisy
