Whether this is the year that you are determined to learn to swim, when you finally get around to visiting Berlin or you have your sights set on a brand new career, everything needs to start with an idea and then putting the plan into action. Taking on new projects can be a lot of fun and can keep you busy and focused, but they can also become a headache if we struggle to keep on top of them. This is why today we want to share with you 4 tips on how to see your projects through successfully.
Think through every single step
Now this one can be tricky to do, but you will soon get into the habit of thinking like this. Whatever you want to do, break it down into smaller bite-size steps. This should help it to appear more manageable as you are tackling one thing at a time and it should ensure that everything runs smoothly.
For example, when your project is redecorating a room on your home, you will want to list everything down that you need to buy, from wallpaper to the LEpro GU10 LED bulbs, and then note down each task that you will need to complete, in the most logical order.
Use lists
With every step thought through, you are ready to start working on your project. At this stage, you will need to use lists that will cover everything, it’s easy to miss off important steps when you are in the middle of a task. Note down all that you need to do and use this as your ongoing checklist.
For some, a good old-fashioned pen and paper might be the most appealing here, and for others, you might prefer apps and programs to keep track of everything that you need to do. It really does not matter which method you opt for, just go with the one that you are most comfortable with and therefore likely to stick with.
Play the bad guy for a moment
This role might come naturally to you or you might need to get a little extra help. It helps to play the bad guy for a moment at this stage and point out everything that is wrong with or could go wrong with, your plans. This is not to demoralise you, but to prepare you.
By spotting potential obstacles early on in this process, whilst you are still fired up and enthusiastic about it, you should be able to work out ways around them and reduce the chances of you hitting walls once you get going.
Enlist help
This one can really make or break a project as most of us will need some sort of help at some point carrying through our plans to completion.
It might be that you need practical help, such as study groups to complete a course or friends to help you to move furniture around as you renovate your home. In other cases, this can be more subtle as it is more about having the support of loved ones to complete your project. You might be starting up a new business and need to know that they are behind you or you need your partner to take on a few more tasks at home whilst you are preoccupied with your plans.
Whatever you need, it helps to keep friends and family in the loop and they can help to keep you accountable and motivate you along the way.
