How Albie has got on with the Xplora XGO2

Xplora XGO2

Albie is 9 years old and was very happy to be given a ‘phone watch’, for him the fact that the watch is a phone and counts his steps had him sold immediately. We used the watch when we went to a festival this Summer which gave us peace of mind that if we became separated we could easily find him.

We put this to the test by separating for a few hours, Albie and Dad went one way whilst the rest of us went the other. The whole time I was able to see exactly where they were on the app and found it easy to locate them when we wanted to join together again.

My one complaint is that the battery life isn’t very long so it does need charging daily and if he has used it a lot for making calls etc, it can run out of charge before the end of the day which is disappointing.

My reason for wanting this type of tracker was so that I could begin letting Albie walk home from school towards the end of this school year. He was quickly able to understand how to operate the phone himself so that he could call me if he needed to. I did worry that he would play with the watch whilst at school but you can put it on school mode which only allows them access to the time. I have his watch set to turn off school mode at the end of the school day but I can also turn it off/on manually when needed, for instance, during the summer holidays.

Albie has been very much driven by his step counter, even being known to run up and down the stairs a few times at the end of the day if he hasn’t reached his target which I think is great.

Conclusion: why the Xplora XGO2 is a great choice for a kid’s smartwatch

If you’re looking for a smartwatch that will give you peace of mind, keep your kids active and independent, and still be fun, the Xplora XGO2 is a great choice. With features like safe zones and the ability to stay in contact with your child, you can rest assured that they’re safe while still giving them the independence they crave. Plus, they’ll never get bored with various fun apps and games.
