As Leapfrog Bloggers we were proud to be asked to take part in the Race for Life again this year. Little Bean still talks about the day we dressed in pink and did ‘the long walk’, her Medal still hangs with pride in her bedroom and gets taken into school periodically for show’n’tell. For many children, you would probably think this isn’t a big deal but Little Bean doesn’t really ‘do’ walking long distances. She likes exercise in the form of scooters or bikes but when it comes to walking she soon loses interest and likes to tell everyone within hearing distance about it.
The Race for Life is such an amazing event to take part in, to see all those people joining together in the fight against cancer because the sad truth is that in this day and age, it’s rare to find someone who doesn’t have a friend or relative that is fighting cancer, has fought it and won or sadly has lost the battle.
We don’t actually know a great deal of people to ask for sponsorship so we haven’t set ourselves a massive target but it would be great to reach or even beat our target of £150. Mummy Matters has a great following of loyal readers and whilst I understand that we all get asked for sponsorship regularly it would be lovely if you could spare a little extra for 6 year old Little Bean and I in our stand against cancer.
We lost my Grandad (my Mum’s Dad) to cancer when I was 21 years old and I still think of him every day. It makes me sad that he never got to meet my Beans (although I’m pretty sure that there is a lot of him in Little Bean) and my fabulous sister-in-law Miss G fought breast cancer whilst I was pregnant with Little Bean so we walk for them.
