It feels like just yesterday, I was sitting in Karin’s kitchen when she turned to me and asked, “Have you heard about Kerry?” The news that followed left me reeling: Kerry Farrow, known as Multiple Mummy, had suffered a brain haemorrhage due to an undetected aneurysm. The blogging community was engulfed in shock – a mere fragment of what her family must have been enduring. Kerry, at just 30 years old, was a mother to three young children, a loving wife, a daughter, a sister, a teacher, and a cherished friend. She valiantly fought to regain her health over the following months, but her journey was marred by relentless infections. Tragically, on December 14th, 2012, Kerry’s battle came to an end.
Today marked the day we bid farewell to Kerry. In a poignant display of unity, the blogging world converged to honour her memory. The hashtag #KerryInOurHearts resonated across Twitter, reaching #1 – a testament to the love and respect she garnered. I was fortunate to have met Kerry at various blogging events. Reflecting on our encounters in a tweet earlier today, I realized I never saw her without a smile. Her presence was a blend of warmth and exuberance, and she had an innate ability to make everyone feel welcome. Kerry embodied motherhood with such grace and ease; it was as if she was born for it.
On days like today, we, as parent bloggers, are reminded of the core essence of why we blog. Our blogs serve as memory books – testaments to our families, capturing our feelings, adventures, and dreams. They are our legacy of love. Today, more than ever, was a day to embrace our loved ones a little tighter.
In honour of Kerry, I lit a candle, holding her family and friends in my thoughts on this profoundly difficult day. Kerry’s light may have dimmed in this world, but her spirit endures in our hearts. Rest in peace, Kerry. You are deeply missed and forever remembered. RIP Kerry xxx.
