If you’re looking for simple yet imaginative and inspiring ways to keep your little ones occupied during this half-term break, look no further.
Rebel Girls Online
Global multi-platform empowerment brand Rebel Girls has produced several activities available via their website, which you can download, print out, and get involved in within the comfort of your home. The activity pack contains various printable items to equip you for a range of fun, from decorating cupcakes to scavenger hunches.
Rebel Girls Scavenger Hunt
One of the more adventurous activities is a scavenger hunt list, which can be used to explore any area, inside or outside. The list uses the acronym ‘Changemaker’ and asks if you can find an item that starts with each letter. Another great activity is the Changemaker Zine which consists of printed line drawings so they can be coloured in and an extra space where kids can draw a changemaker from their own life.
Bindi Irwin Activities
Bindi Irwin features at the forefront of the latest Rebel Girls book, with a thoughtful introduction to Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls: 100 Inspiring Young Changemakers. Bindi can also be found in the activity pack with her Cheetah Chase crossword. The crossword has a list of animal and conservation-themed words to try to find in this crossword, with beautifully illustrated line drawings so kids can also colour in the sheet.
Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls
The fifth volume in the Rebel Girls series, Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls: 100 Inspiring Young Changemakers, celebrates barrier-breaking activists, artists, inventors and entrepreneurs under 30 leading the next generation of girls to change the world. Among the celebrated book subjects are global figures Taylor Swift (US) and Greta Thunberg (Sweden), artists Zendaya (US) and Rubaba Muhammadi (Afghanistan), activists Vanessa Nakate (Uganda) and Te Manaia Jennings (New Zealand), athletes Rayssa Leal (Brazil) and Emma Raducanu (Canada/UK), and entrepreneurs Kaitlin Fritz and Olga Kravchenko (Ukraine/US) and Marine Serre (France).
The fifth volume of the award-winning Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls series features work by creators aged 11 to 30, including 13 contributing authors, original illustrations from 90 artists worldwide, and the book’s editors. As with other recent Rebel Girls titles, readers of 100 Inspiring Young Changemakers can also access expanded audio stories through the Rebel Girls app. By using the QR codes on select book stories, readers can immediately immerse themselves in empowering tales, calming soundscapes, and real-life images of these inspiring young changemakers.
Room to Read
Additionally, Rebel Girls has partnered with Room to Read, a global non-profit organisation whose mission is to create a world free from illiteracy and gender inequality, to include stories of four Girls’ Education Programme participants from countries including Sri Lanka, Nepal, India, and Vietnam in 100 Inspiring Young Changemakers. Rebel Girls and Room to Read are also collaborating on a localised, proprietary mini edition of Young Changemakers to reach girls in an additional nine languages and six countries.
The release of Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls: 100 Inspiring Young Changemakers this autumn will mark the culmination of Rebel Girls’ 2022 Be The Change campaign, which inspires girls to build confidence and create change. Their online activity also plays a part in this, so your kids will not only be entertained during this half term but also learn about how they can make a change.
Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls: 100 Inspiring Young Changemakers is available now at all major retailers.
