Last Sunday saw the Mummy Matters family head to Ferry Meadows for an afternoon of fresh air and frolics. As a family we love to get outside, its when the Beans are most certainly at their best; they need that opportunity to run free, to explore . It’s a little like the excitement when you let a puppy off their lead for the first time so we love to take them to large open spaces.
In order to make our family walk a little less painful for Hubby and I, we took the Beans’ trusty scooters to help them get around the lakes a little faster. I’m sure it won’t be long before Jelly Bean is joining them!
Poor Little Bean lost her scooters’ footing as she tried to avoid people walking towards her as I took the photograph of the horses above and she landed in a heap on the floor hurting her hands so she decided it would be (a) easier and (b) safer for her to hold onto the pushchair rather than scoot under her own steam.
As ever the Beans decided to attempt to climb and sit on the sculpture which sits on the side of the sporting lake. They do this every time without fail, it’s almost becoming a ritual.
Little Bean loves nature, she loves animals, insects, plants and flowers. She just thrives on being outdoors. I did have to stifle a little chuckle when I asked her what she was looking at so closely on this tree as she declared “look Mummy, I found a nature” – bless her xx
Hubby regretted starting this game of tag when he ran underneath the climbing frame and failed to notice the rather large wooden beam which collided nicely with his shins. He is still sporting the lumps and bruises a week later! The Beans thought this was hilarious and of course it had the added bonus of wearing them out nicely just before bedtime.
We finished our family venture down by the lake teaching the Beans to skim stones. There wasn’t a great supply of flat stones but we had lots of fun anyway, even Hubby had a go at scooting. I don’t think Hubby and I are ready to grow up just yet!!
I am linking up with #CountryKids with this post. Why not follow other posts to see what everyone else has been up to.
That looks like a great place for a family adventure – I am sure my two would love a scoot around there!
It looks like a lovely family day out despite the bumps and bruises, kids always enjoy things most when you join in too so well done for making their fun all the more memorable and joining me for Country Kids.
Sounds like a fantastic family afternoon, so nice to get out in the fresh air with the added bonus of wearing out the Beans before bed x
