In the years BBB (Before Beanie Boy), Little Bean and I would spend a lot of time at the local Surestart Children’s Centre attending a broad range of different classes from Baby Massage to Music and Messy Play to Handling Children’s Behaviour.
Me Time for Mummy
Some of the classes included Little Bean, for others she would go in the creche provided which afforded me a little bit of me time. It gave me the opportunity to talk to other Mums without having to stop conversation mid-flow to tend to a crying baby/toddler.
Since Beanie Boy has joined our lives I haven’t really attended the Children’s Centre other than when I was training to be a Breastfeeding Counsellor but Beanie Boy was still with me for the course.
Beginners jewellery class
This morning, I was able to attend a class alone as Little Bean was at Little School, and a creche was provided for Beanie Boy. The class was a Jewellery Course funded by the Local Council and taught by Donna, who owns Riverside Beads in Marketing Deeping.
Whilst I’m not a beginner I love attending jewellery-making classes because there is always the opportunity to learn something new or get inspiration. There were only 7 of us on the course, but everyone seemed to enjoy themselves, and some great creations were made. I always get jewellery jealous when I see what others have made, thinking to myself, “Why didn’t I think of those colours/that style?” but this is what I created today in 2 hours.
Priceless excitement
I don’t think it would have mattered what I had made, it was just nice to have some time to myself where I didn’t have to keep an eye out of the baby rolling too close to something dangerous or the toddler being a little ‘too’ helpful with the baby! It’s so important as a new Mum that you remember to take time out just for yourself, and the best part about it for me is the excitement of seeing my little ones’ faces when they see me again – it’s priceless!
