Being a stay at home Mum means I spend a LOT of time in the home with the children so I want it to be a place I enjoy, somewhere I feel relaxed, happy, safe and secure.
I am pleased to say that I love my lounge, it is such a calming room and even on the dullest of days still feels fresh and airy. We are lucky because our house has windows on every side so it always feels full of light, its one of the main reasons we bought the house in the first place. Having windows on all sides can also be a bit of a downfall though because you get the sun throughout the whole day and it heats the house up so much it can be stifling, so this year we have done something about it and installed Venetian blinds in the two downstairs front windows. These were the only windows in the house where we hadn’t installed blinds so on the really hot, sunny days we have been enjoying I have been keeping the curtains closed and then it feels dull and oppressive.
I had been contacted by well-known brand Hilary’s Blinds to see if I would like to review their Web Blinds service, their timing couldn’t have been more perfect.
I knew exactly what I was looking for so that made my task of selecting my blinds much easier. We chose their new Innovation Faux Wood blinds because they are lighter in weight which is better for the rubbish walls in our new build house. The blinds come in three slat width options and a range of colours, we chose white with 50cm slats.
Next we needed to measure the windows for the blinds but this was simple as there was an easy-to-follow guide depending on whether you wanted your blinds to fit inside or outside the window. I was really surprised to see that they are so confident that you will get your measurements right that if you get them wrong, they will replace your blinds for free!
Once the blinds arrived Hubby unpacked them to get started on them straight away and immediately said “there aren’t instructions”. We checked and double checked but nope, definitely no instructions. Then I had a lightbulb moment! Being a ‘web’ service perhaps the instructions were online and sure enough there they were! Happy Hubby!!
It took Hubby less than 20 minutes to fit each blind and I am so pleased with the finished result. Now on the sunny days I can just tilt the blinds to stop the strong rays of the sun but without blocking out the light.
