We have always been taught that washing our hands is important and, in my home, hand washing is a priority before eating, after playing, before cooking, after using the loo and so on. Hand washing is simply something that we do without giving it a thought; it’s like second nature. But why is hand washing so important, and why is it necessary to ensure we stay healthy?
Stave off illness
According to Healthline, “Washing your hands properly with soap and running water can stave off illnesses that affect healthy people, as well as those with weakened immune systems.” This includes respiratory infections, gastric infections and many other illnesses that can be fatal to older adults, children and babies. And don’t think you are safe if you are healthy, you can pass on these germs, even if you are not sick.
Hand Sanitiser
Hand washing is not only done with soap and water. Hand sanitiser is an incredible solution to hand washing on-the-go. It has the benefits of normal hand washing plus; it comes will even more advantages. Today, I’ve partnered up with Ocean Free hand sanitiser manufacturer to talk all about hand sanitiser.
Convenience
Hand sanitiser is lightweight, portable and easy-to-use; it will fit in your purse, pocket or backpack ready to be used no matter where you are to quickly sanitise your hands. As this blog post on Me Him the Dog and the Baby mentions, “When you are out and about and have no access to clean running water, hand sanitiser is the way to go.” So, whether you’ve touched door handles in a public space or even light switches, remember to sanitise your hands after.
Reduce spread of germs
By sanitising your hands with hand sanitiser, you reduce the chances of getting ill and spreading germs, bacteria and viruses to others. As Pretty Big Butterflies explains in a recent blog post, hand sanitiser can kill 99.999% of these microorganisms, however, for hand sanitiser to be this effective “it is important to choose an alcohol-based hand sanitiser with more than 60% alcohol.”
Fast drying
Ocean Free hand sanitisers have between 70-80% alcohol concentration which ensures that these can kill 99.999% of bacteria and be effective against viruses and other microorganisms. Plus, these evaporate quickly from your hands, allowing you to get on with your day swiftly.
Dear Bear and Beany also highlight the importance of hand sanitiser for children. We know how they touch everything and anything and then proceed to touch their eyes, mouth and everything in between. In their blog post, they recommend supervising children when using hand sanitiser, teaching them how to properly use it to ensure its effectiveness and storing it far from reach.
Using hand sanitiser properly will keep you and your loved ones illness-free, and it will reduce the spread of bacteria, germs and viruses to others around you. Do you use hand sanitiser often?
