I had to have a little giggle to myself the other day when Curly asked if I could “translate” what Baby Bean was saying – as though she was speaking some foreign language. I tried to explain to him as best as I could that I didn’t really know what she was saying but that I just had to kind of guess what she was trying to communicate to me. He couldn’t understand how I knew that she was hungry, or that she wanted a particular toy. I guess after a while you just take it for granted that you “know” what your children are trying to say to you and its only when other children get involved that you realise what a skill this really is. So to all you Mummies out there, well done for being in tune with your child. Without us, our babies would be a frustrated little bundle.
