Decorating your home on a budget can be difficult, especially if you are trying to achieve a high end finish. However, there are some simple and low cost ways to make the room appear richer and more luxurious.
With some careful planning and a bit of creativity, you can make just about any room in your home feel a million dollars.
Flooring
A polished wooden floor manages to exude an elegance that’s simply not possible with tiles or carpets. Unfortunately, unless you already have good quality floorboards in place, it’s likely to cost quite a bit of money. Thankfully there are plenty of laminate flooring options designed to replicate the appearance of real wood and these are far cheaper to fit and maintain.
Doors
One of the easiest ways to add a touch of glamour to your interiors is by dressing up your doors. Painting them black will make even the cheapest doors look richer. It’s amazing how much difference doors can make to the appearance of a room so complete the classy look by adding some stylish door knobs & handles.
Who knew that just painting the doors in a deep colour and finishing off with some dressy door furniture can make a world of difference? If you do decide to go black, make sure you add some black accents to the room the doors lead into to bring it all together.
Pillows
A simple sofa or bed can be transformed into something that wouldn’t look out of place in a boutique hotel just by adding cushions or pillows. You might be unable to afford luxurious 500 thread count Egyptian cotton sheets but large throw pillows for the bed will give you that expensive and classy look without the huge expense.
You can achieve something similar in the living room – add a throw and some scatter cushions to create a completely new look.
Coordinate
As you know from the point about flooring above, wood can give an elegant finish unlike any other material. To carry the expensive feel throughout your home, use the same wood for all of your furniture.
Mismatched sideboards, TV units, drawers and wardrobes immediately scream ‘cheap’. You don’t have to spend a lot of money on high end bespoke furniture but simply using the same wood will create a sense of continuity and give you the classy look you’re after.
Although it’s easy to spend loads of money on interior design, just because you’re on a tight budget doesn’t mean your home can’t look just as good. Use a little imagination and use these techniques to add a touch of class to your home.
