I know, I’m a bit late with this post. To be honest, I’m not sure where the week has gone, it’s been a blur of tissues, hot lemon and snuggles on the sofa. The whole family has been full of colds and coughs, it has just flown by.
Remembrance Day 2013
Tonight I was looking back through the photographs I had taken this week when I came across these photographs which are completely deserving of a place on Mummy Matters. I was brimming with pride last Sunday morning as Curly and Little Bean donned their Scout and Rainbows uniform in preparation for their first Remembrance Sunday March. The sad part is that Curly goes to Scouts in a different town to Little Bean so Hubby took him with Beanie Boy whilst Jelly Bean, my Mum and I joined Little Bean in our home town.
Proud Mum
The sun was shining but it was bitterly cold, I really thought that Little Bean would complain but she didn’t, she walked with her fellow Rainbows with a big smile on her face and behaved well whilst in Church. Even Jelly Bean managed to stay quiet in Church, only making noises when he was trying to join in with the singing.
A time to think
It brought back memories of my youth as I was a Brownie and then a Girl Guide and would always march on Remembrance Day. It was always freezing but I always felt proud of taking part. At a young age I don’t think I truly appreciated the enormity of it but as I stood in Church last Sunday I looked around to see grown men and women crying, one lady in front of me was sobbing and I can only imagine that she has lost someone serving in the forces, it was upsetting to see. I watched as everyone filed out of Church and saw a number of men in Army Uniform adorned with Medals of Honour, a few of them were limping, it really brought home the reality of such sad times.
