We always buy the Beans one DVD each for Christmas. We still try to do our #familyfilmnight as often as we can although this isn’t every weekend like it used to be, we always seem to have such a busy schedule.

Pete’s Dragon
This is a film I remember from my own childhood and have watched with the children many times over. Now the film has been re-told into a tale which warms the heart. For years, old wood carver Mr. Meacham (Robert Redford) has delighted local children with his tales of the fierce dragon that resides deep in the woods of the Pacific Northwest. To his daughter, Grace (Bryce Dallas Howard), who works as a forest ranger, these stories are little more than tall tales… until she meets Pete (Oakes Fegley). Pete is a mysterious 10-year-old with no family and no home who claims to live in the woods with a giant, green dragon named Elliot. And from Pete’s descriptions, Elliot seems remarkably similar to the dragon from Mr. Meacham’s stories. With the help of Natalie (Oona Laurence), an 11-year-old girl whose father Jack (Wes Bentley) owns the local lumber mill, Grace sets out to determine where Pete came from, where he belongs, and the truth about this dragon.
Swallows and Amazons
Kelly Macdonald and Rafe Spall star in this family adventure adapted from Arthur Ransome’s classic novel set in the 1920s. While on holiday in the Lake District with their mother Mrs. Walker (Macdonald) four siblings – John (Dane Hughes), Susan (Orla Hill), Tatty (Teddie-Rose Malleson-Allen) and Roger (Bobby McCulloch) – set sail on a boat named Swallow and discover an island. As they begin to explore they realise the island has already been claimed by sisters Nancy (Seren Hawkes) and Peggy Blackett (Hannah Jayne Thorp), who have their own vessel called the Amazon. Meanwhile, the sisters’ mysterious uncle Jim Turner (Spall), who lives in a houseboat and is thought of as a pirate by the Walker children, has become the target of secret agent Lazlow (Andrew Scott). When Jim is taken captive the Walkers and the Blacketts put aside their rivalry and band together on a mission to discover what happened to him. The cast also features Jessica Hynes, Richard Bremmer and Harry Enfield.

Used to being shunned by their fellow birds, outsiders Red, Chuck and Bomb have learned to take care of themselves. When King Pig Leonard (Bill Hader) and his crew arrive onto the island shrouded in mystery and secrets, it is clear something is being planned and the three outcasts decide to try to figure out what’s going on.
Zootropolis
Zootropolis is a city like no other. But when optimistic Judy Hopps arrives, she discovers that being a bunny on a police force of big, tough animals isn’t so easy.
