As a parent, my top priority is safeguarding my family’s health. Recently, I learned about the alarming presence of PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances) in drinking water—commonly referred to as “forever chemicals” due to their inability to break down in the environment. These man-made chemicals are linked to severe health risks, including cancer, thyroid disease, and developmental issues in children. This revelation has prompted me to take action to ensure my family has access to safe, tap water.
Understanding the PFAS in Water Crisis
PFAS contamination is a global issue that affects water supplies, soil, air, and even living organisms. These substances are used in thousands of everyday products, from non-stick cookware to firefighting foams. Unfortunately, they have made their way into our water systems, where they remain virtually indestructible. A recent study found that over a third of water courses in England and Wales contain medium or high-risk levels of PFAS compounds. This contamination poses a significant threat to public health.
The Environmental Working Group (EWG) has identified PFAS as one of the most harmful contaminants in tap water, highlighting outdated regulations on PFAS levels that fail to reflect current scientific understanding. As a parent, this information is deeply concerning—especially knowing that children are particularly vulnerable to these toxic chemicals.
Adding to these concerns, a recent survey by Britain’s Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) revealed that two-thirds of the UK public remains unaware of the dangers of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), despite a majority believing it’s crucial to control PFAS levels in food, drinking water, and the environment.
The Fight Against PFAS Contamination

While the PFAS problem may seem insurmountable, innovative solutions are emerging to tackle this crisis. Bluewater, a global leader in water purification technology, offers an effective commercial solution for destroying PFAS and other harmful contaminants in drinking water. Their advanced filtration systems remove up to 99.7% of pollutants, including heavy metals and PFAS molecules. This technology provides families like mine with peace of mind by ensuring access to safe tap water.
Bluewater’s mission resonates with me: access to pure drinking water is a fundamental human right. Their cutting-edge technology not only addresses PFAS pollution but also enhances overall water quality by removing a wide range of pollutants. Moreover, Bluewater water purifiers offer advanced filtration that surpasses traditional bottled and tap water in quality and safety.
How I Plan to Tackle the Water Crisis at Home
After learning about the dangers of PFAS in drinking water and the limitations of traditional water treatment processes, I did some research and discovered Bluewater’s advanced purification system for the home. This decision was driven by my desire to protect my family from exposure to harmful contaminants while contributing to the stand against PFAS contamination.
Bluewater’s innovative approach includes technologies like ion exchange and reverse osmosis, which effectively remove PFAS from water supplies. By adopting this solution, I feel empowered knowing that I can take proactive steps toward safeguarding my family’s health.
As a parent, it’s reassuring to know that Bluewater purifiers not only address immediate concerns about PFAS but also contribute to long-term water safety.
A Call for Greater Awareness and Action
The growing awareness of PFAS contamination underscores the urgent need for regulatory standards and innovative solutions within the water sector. As parents, we must advocate for stronger environmental protection measures while exploring cost-effective technologies for PFAS removal at home.
The fight against PFAS contamination is far from over, but with advancements in water purification technology, we can tackle this pressing environmental challenge head-on. By prioritising safe drinking water for our families and communities, we can contribute to a healthier future for all.
Why Water Purification Technology Matters
Investing in advanced water purification technology is not just about addressing today’s challenges—it’s about securing clean drinking water for generations to come. Companies like Bluewater are leading the charge in developing sustainable solutions that remove PFAS from water while addressing broader issues like global water scarcity.
As a parent committed to protecting my family’s health, I’m grateful for innovations that make it possible to destroy PFAS in liquid and provide safe drinking water at home. Together, we can tackle this crisis and ensure a brighter future for our children.
This makes for interesting reading. We all drink a LOT of tap water. I have liver and kidney disease (despite not drinking alcohol for 15 years), plus early onset heart disease (Never smoked), and a grossly underactive thyroid. All linked to PFAS. Given how much water costs now, I can’t help but feel it should be safe to drink, without us having to shell out for a purifier on top. No such luck though. Time to do some research…
Wow that’s a lot for you to contend with and as you say, the very least we should expect is for our tap water to be safe but so much research points to the opposite.
It is rather concerning, that is for sure. There is no way we could drink tap water where I am; it’s not even clear in colour coming from the taps.
Wow that sounds terrible, it should be a standard shouldn’t it?!
