If you’re anything like me then you’ll watch TV advertisements with a slightly sceptical mind, especially when it comes to the ads for stain removal products which claim to remove anything and everything. So when we were sent Vanish Oxi-Action Stain Removal products to try we decided to enlist the help of the children to really put them to the test.
We asked them if to ‘paint’ on some of JB’s old vests but instead of using just paint, we raided the food cupboard to see what else we could find. Daddy put together a palette of blue paint, yellow paint, chocolate spread, tomato ketchup, pesto sauce and apple/banana fruit puree. It seemed too cruel to destroy their works of art when they had painstakingly put so much effort into them, so we let them do it instead.
Curly and Little Bean opted for the Vanish Stain Removal Powder where their vests were left in a bowl of Oxi-Action and warm water solution to soak for a couple of hours (it was only going to be an hour, although it can be left for up to 6 hours on whites, but we forgot all about them). Once we had retrieved the vests they were placed in the washing machine and put through a regular wash with the rest of the whites. Beanie Boy left his artwork to soak in and dry on the vest whilst the others’ vests were soaking. He then sprayed the stains all over with Vanish Oxi-Action Stain Removal Spray before popping it into the washing machine with the other vests.
One wash cycle later and hey presto, the stains really had gone and I now know that Vanish does EXACTLY what it says it does, even the dreaded ketchup stains have gone! So maybe now I can relax a little at tea time when the children drop their food all over their clothes although we still won’t be allowing any food fights!
