How To Make Everyday Items Feel Extra Special

Do you ever find that the little things in life start to get all mixed up and just end up as one big blur because there are so many of them and nothing’s very special about them? That might just seem as though that’s how life is and how it has to be – after all, not every single thing can be extraordinary – but in reality, there are plenty of additions you can do and make to everyday items or everyday events to boost them a little (and sometimes a lot), and when you can do it, you should; nothing has to be ordinary if you don’t want it to be. With that in mind, keep reading to find out more about how to make everyday items feel extra special.

Everyone has their favourite mug – the mug they reach for before any others, the one they’ll choose no matter what (unless it happens to be in the dishwasher or need cleaning, and only then will you reluctantly pick a different one). Some people love their favourite mugs more than others, but the point is, there’s sure to be a mug in your house that you like best.

And why is that? If it’s because it’s fun and unique and shows off your personality, then you probably don’t need to worry about this point and you can move onto the next. If, however, you love that mug because it’s nice to hold and drink from, even if the pattern is a bit boring or even the same as some of your other mugs, why not do something about it? Get some ceramic paint or pens and draw a unique pattern, picture, or add some words to your mug to make it truly yours – your first cup of coffee in the morning is going to be even better with that kind of fun personalisation.

There are so many aspects of your car you can change to make it feel extra special, and it’s going to depend on a few things like your budget, your taste, and perhaps even down to whether you own the car or lease it. However, if you want to (or have to) start small, you can add some fun car stickers to the body or windows, or have some toys on the dashboard (as long as they’re made for cars and aren’t distracting). Or maybe it’s your keyring that you can turn into something special, either by decorating it yourself or buying one that speaks to you and is all about your interests.

Then, if you want to do something bigger, there’s the entire interior or the car to change, the gear stick, the lights (inside and out), the colour of the car and, of course, you can have your choice from thousands of extra special private number plates too.

You do have a phone case, don’t you? It’s a rare person who just keeps their phone as it comes without any extra protection (although, when you think about it, if you do that then your phone is unique for that reason, so is it really wrong?), and in most cases, a phone case is needed. Yes, it’s protection, but it’s also a way to show off who you are and make your phone extra special.

Firstly, you need to think about what you want your phone case to do. What do we mean by that? Haven’t we just said that it’s all about protection (or mostly about protection)? Yes, that’s true, and it is, so the case definitely has to be strong and sturdy to keep your phone safe. However, it can do other things, and that’s where you need to make a choice. It can act as a wallet if you pick one with space for cards and even cash, for example, or it could be a phone case with a built-in mobile charger to ensure you never run out of battery (just don’t forget to charge the case, or you’ll have some problems).

Once you’ve decided on the type of case, you can think about what it should look like. Colour, style, pattern, even the brand name are all considerations, but so is the fact that once you have a case, you can then add even more personalisation if you want to – a plain old case that does the job but doesn’t look like much can instantly be improved with some stickers or glitter, for example, and you can be sure no one else will have the same case as you then.

Surely towels can’t get the extra special treatment? And even if they can, should they? Well, the answer is yes to both – they can be made extra special, and they should be made extra special. Why not is the real question!

Towels might not be the most exciting object in the world (although there’s nothing quite like a warm, soft, fluffy towel when you’ve just stepped out of the shower), but that can all change when you add some embroidery – and you don’t even have to be the one adding it. Firstly, you can buy towels that are already embroidered with all kinds of things, from names to fun phrases to dates, and more. Or, if you’ve got towels and you want to make them unique, there will be people you can pay to do the embroidery for you. And if a full embroidery doesn’t work for you, it’s possible to get iron on patches for towels as well, and you’ll still get the same results (although they might not last as long).

Your towels can sit in your bathroom or downstairs toilet and instantly tells guests something about who you are, and if that’s not extra special, we don’t know what is.

In the end, the secret to making everyday items feel extra special isn’t spending loads of money or getting complicated; it’s about looking at things in a different way and adding your own ideas and personalisation to things turns random stuff into your stuff, and that’s what counts.
