When Simon and I decided to treat ourselves to a night away from the hustle and bustle of family life, the DoubleTree by Hilton Lincoln in the heart of Lincoln’s vibrant Brayford Waterfront was an easy choice. Known for its fantastic location, stunning views, and warm hospitality, it seemed the perfect setting for a relaxing night away together.
Arriving at the DoubleTree Hilton Lincoln
Upon arrival, we were greeted with a signature DoubleTree warm welcome, including those famous warm cookies! The reception staff were friendly and efficient, ensuring seamless check-in. The hotel’s location at Brayford Wharf North is ideal, offering panoramic city views (from the rooftop bars) and just a short walk away from Lincoln Central Railway Station and the city centre.
The lobby set the tone for our stay: modern, inviting, and spotlessly clean. Clearly, the cleanliness of the rooms and facilities was a top priority for this Lincoln hotel. Our room was ready, and we couldn’t wait to settle in.
A Room with Everything You Needed
Our room was lovely, with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The attention to detail was evident from the spacious and spotless bathroom to the tea and coffee-making facilities. The bed was sumptuous, promising a great night’s sleep, and the shower? Loved it! It’s the little luxuries like this that make a hotel stay so memorable.
Some rooms also feature a balcony overlooking the stunning waterfront — a perfect spot to unwind before heading out for the evening. We could do this from the Electric Bar on the top floor. We took a moment to appreciate the beautiful views of Brayford Marina and the city skyline, which felt magical with the twinkling lights reflected on the water.
Rooftop Bar & Restaurant
Dining at the DoubleTree by Hilton Lincoln’s rooftop restaurant, home to the Marco Pierre White Steakhouse Bar & Grill, is possible. The restaurant is situated on the fifth floor and boasts panoramic city views, making it a truly special dining experience. We declined during this stay as it was Christmas Party season.
Exploring Lincoln’s Attractions
The hotel is perfectly located for exploring Lincoln’s attractions. At the top of Steep Hill, the historic Lincoln Cathedral and Lincoln Castle are within walking distance, as are the many shops, restaurants, museums and bars in the city centre.
The Brayford area is a gem, offering a vibrant yet relaxed atmosphere by the water.
Although our stay was brief, we managed a short stroll to admire Lincoln’s Christmas lights before heading to the Odeon Cinema on Brayford Wharf to watch Gladiator 2 (a brilliant film).
Facilities and Amenities
This Lincoln hotel offers a range of facilities and amenities catering to leisure and business travellers. During our stay, we caught up with an old friend in the Uphill area of Lincoln, enjoyed Christmas shopping and focused on relaxation. If you are so inclined, there is a fitness centre. We also made use of the convenient on-site parking. The reception staff were always on hand, and nothing was too much trouble for them.
For those planning a longer stay, the hotel’s meeting facilities and complimentary Wi-Fi make it a great option for business trips. The DoubleTree by Hilton Lincoln is dedicated to offering a well-rounded experience for all its guests.
