This year, Hubby and I will be celebrating our fifth wedding anniversary, and yet it still only seems like a few months have passed since we placed our wedding bands onto each other’s fingers. My wedding dress has been packed in a box in our garage ever since.
Reconnecting with my Wedding Dress
When Hubby went into the garage at the weekend and found a few things had mildew on them, I grabbed the box containing my wedding dress and brought it into the house. What if my dress was covered in mildew, too? I know it’s unlikely I will ever wear my dress again (mainly because it won’t fit me), but I would hate for it to be ruined. It wasn’t until today that I finally plucked up the courage to look at my dress, which I did with one eye closed. Imagine my relief when I saw that my dress still looked as perfect as the day I married the love of my life!
Showing my dress to Little Bean
Since my dress was in the house, I decided to take the opportunity to have a lovely mummy/daughter moment, so I asked Little Bean if she would like to see Mummy’s beautiful wedding dress, and she said yes. But when I opened the dress, she just said: “It’s big, isn’t it, can I have something to eat now?”. Seriously my heart fell a little, and I felt like I had been smacked around the chops with a wet fish; the moment couldn’t have been any further from how I had imagined it in my head.
Still, it was lovely to see my wedding dress again and reminisce; it’s such a shame we only get to wear them once.
