We’ve all been doing a lot more home-cooking over the past year!
If you’re a keen amateur cook, you’ll know how important it is to have a high-quality set of pots and pans in your kitchen cupboard. Two of our favourite cookware brands are Calphalon and Cuisinart. Both are US-based brands that offer a range of stainless steel pans, but there are several differences between the two.
Which stainless steel cookware brand is better?
Stainless steel is an excellent choice for cooking – it distributes heat evenly, stops food from sticking and if you look after it, it will last for years!
Join us as we take a look at how the two famous brands compare, and which is the best one to buy if you are looking to invest.
Appearance
Calphalon is a lot more simple in design, while Cuisinart comes in different varieties of finishes. The Calphalon range has a brushed, matte finish to it. Not only does this look stunning, it generally hides scratches and bumps better too!
However, if you are looking for a bit more variety to your cooking pots, Cuisinart may offer more of a choice. For example, you can get a stainless steel cooking surface with a gorgeous graphite exterior!
Lids
Cuisinart lids are made of the same grade of steel as the body of the product while Calphalon lids are made of tempered glass.
Now, there are advantages to both of these materials being used. However, we love the glass lids as it means you can watch your food cooking without having to remove the lid.
Thickness of steel
Comparing at the flagship level, the Calphalon products, such as Calphalon Signature or Premier series, is made of thicker, heavier stainless steel than the Cuisinart MultiClad Pro. This not only means it will last longer but holds heat in for longer, resulting in more evenly cooked food. However, for lower levels, there has no substantial difference between the two.
Useful features
Both are considered as user-friendly products. One feature of the Calphalon range that we like is there are fill lines inside the pans. This means you can add liquids straight to the pan without having to measure them out beforehand.
The Cuisinart range has easy-pour rims on their pans which help with pouring. We’ve all been there where we’ve tried pouring hot milk into a cup and ended up with half of it on the floor!
Price
Since being a household product brand, Cuisinart cookware is more affordable, which may make it a more appealing choice if you are on a budget. However, do shop around as prices can vary from store to store, as well as across the different ranges.
Summary: Which is best?
Both brands look similar at first glance but do have a lot of crucial differences. We love the Calphalon as it’s high-quality and heavy-duty and will last you for decades to come. However, the MultiClad Pro is still a great choice of this article and if you are looking to update your kitchen on a budget, we’d definitely recommend it. Each brand does a variety of different cookware collections so do shop around and see which one is right for your needs.
In conclusion, both are excellent hard-wearing brands that will see you through cooking hundreds and thousands of delicious meals!
