Campingaz Camping Kitchen 2 Multi-Cook Review: Family Tested

Originally published: August 14, 2024 | Updated: August 2026

When you’re cooking for a family of five on a camping trip, having enough space to prepare more than one thing at a time makes life much easier. We put the Campingaz Camping Kitchen 2 Multi-Cook to the test during two family camping trips totalling 17 days, using it as our main camping stove for everything from quick breakfasts to evening meals.

With two gas burners plus a separate griddle, it gave us the flexibility to cook different foods at the same time – particularly useful in our family when not everyone wants to eat the same thing! After using it extensively on real camping trips, here’s how we found it for cooking, portability, cleaning and everyday family use.

Disclosure: The Campingaz Camping Kitchen 2 Multi-Cook was gifted to us for review. All opinions and experiences shared in this article are our own and are based on using the stove during our family camping trips.

Campingaz Camping Kitchen 2 Multi-Cook: Quick Verdict

Best for: Family camping trips and longer camping holidays where you want to cook several things at once.

What we liked: Two powerful burners plus a separate griddle, easy Piezo ignition, good-sized pan supports and plenty of cooking flexibility for a family.

What to consider: It takes up more packing space than a compact camping stove, and we found keeping it in its original box was the easiest way to protect it when travelling.

Our verdict: After using the Campingaz Camping Kitchen 2 Multi-Cook as our main stove across 17 days of family camping, we found it practical, reliable and particularly useful when cooking different foods for five people at once. It’s a stove we would happily take on another family camping trip.

Is the Campingaz Camping Kitchen 2 Multi-Cook still available?

Updated August 2026: Yes, the Campingaz Camping Kitchen 2 Multi-Cook is still listed by Campingaz, although availability can vary between UK retailers. Campingaz also offers the Camping Kitchen 2 Multi-Cook Plus, so you may see both models when shopping around. This review is specifically based on the original Camping Kitchen 2 Multi-Cook that we tested on our family camping trips.

Campingaz Camping Kitchen 2 Multicook

Setting up the Campingaz Camping Kitchen 2 Multi-Cook was straightforward. We simply lifted the lid, secured the supports and connected our Campingaz R907 gas cylinder. We used the stove on our Coleman Cooking Stand, which gave us a dedicated cooking area with useful storage underneath and space to keep our camping kitchen organised.

At around 6kg, we found the Campingaz Camping Kitchen 2 Multi-Cook manageable to pack and move between campsites, although it is naturally bulkier than a small single-burner stove. We transported ours in its original box, which helped protect it while it was packed with the rest of our camping gear.

We also used the stove in windy conditions and found the built-in Flameguard helped shield the burners and keep the flames more consistent. This was particularly useful when cooking outdoors, where even a fairly breezy day can make using a camping stove more frustrating.

Campingaz Camping Kitchen 2 Multi-Cook gas stove

This is where the Camping Kitchen 2 Multi-Cook really worked well for our family. The two main burners are rated at 1,800W each, while the separate griddle has its own 900W burner, giving us three cooking areas that we could use at the same time.

That extra cooking space made a noticeable difference when preparing meals for five people. For example, we could cook pasta on one burner and sauce on the other while using the griddle to warm garlic bread or doughballs. Rather than having to cook everything in stages, we could get most of the meal ready at roughly the same time – definitely a bonus when everyone was hungry after a day outdoors.

Lighting the stove was quick and straightforward thanks to the Piezo ignition, so we didn’t need to reach for matches or a lighter each time we wanted to cook. Each cooking area can be controlled independently, which gave us much more flexibility when preparing a meal.

We also found the flame control useful when switching between bringing a large pan of water to the boil and cooking foods that needed a gentler heat. Being able to adjust each burner separately was especially handy when we had several parts of a meal cooking at once.

Is it big enough for cooking family meals?

One of the things we particularly appreciated was having enough room to use decent-sized pans. Campingaz recommends a maximum pan size of 28cm, which gave us plenty of capacity for the sort of meals we cook when camping as a family of five.

We used the burners for meals such as pasta and curry, and the pan supports felt sturdy once the stove was positioned on our cooking stand. Having two full-sized burners side by side made the Camping Kitchen 2 Multi-Cook feel much more like a practical outdoor kitchen than the smaller camping stoves we’ve used in the past.

Considering how much cooking we did over our 17 days of camping, we found the stove surprisingly easy to keep clean. We generally wiped it down after cooking once it was safe to do so, rather than allowing spills and food residue to build up.

The non-stick griddle was particularly easy to clean, which was useful when we were using the stove every day. After two family camping trips and plenty of meals, ours was still in excellent condition, and transporting it in its original box helped protect it between campsites and on the journey home.

Our camping kitchen setup

We paired the Campingaz stove with our Coleman Cooking Stand, and for longer camping trips we found the combination worked really well. It gave the stove a dedicated, stable surface at a comfortable height for cooking, while the shelving underneath provided useful storage for our cooking equipment and ingredients.

The stand isn’t essential to using the Camping Kitchen 2 Multi-Cook, but having a proper cooking station made preparing meals for five people feel much more organised. For us, it was particularly worthwhile on longer trips when we were setting up a full camping kitchen rather than simply stopping somewhere for a night.

Cooking a family meal on the Campingaz Camping Kitchen 2 Multi-Cook

One unexpected bonus was how confident Lillie became using the stove. She enjoyed helping with the cooking and even took over preparing some of our family meals, which meant I occasionally got a break from being the camp chef!

We found the controls intuitive and the Piezo ignition meant there was no need to light the burners manually with matches. Of course, as with any gas camping stove, younger family members should only use it with appropriate adult supervision and it should always be used according to the manufacturer’s safety instructions.

For us, having a camping stove that other members of the family felt comfortable using made our camping kitchen much more practical, especially over a longer trip.

What we liked – and what to consider

After using the Campingaz Camping Kitchen 2 Multi-Cook for 17 days of family camping, these were the things that stood out most to us.

What we liked

  • Three separate cooking areas made preparing meals for five much easier.
  • Two full-sized burners gave us enough space for larger family meals.
  • The separate griddle was useful for cooking or warming food alongside whatever we had on the burners.
  • Piezo ignition made lighting the stove quick and convenient.
  • The flame controls gave us good control over different foods cooking at the same time.
  • It performed well for us even on breezy camping days.
  • Cleaning the stove and non-stick griddle was straightforward.

Things to consider

  • At around 6kg and 60cm wide when packed, this isn’t the smallest option if you’re short on car or campervan space.
  • We kept ours in its original box for protection, which adds to the amount of packing space it requires.
  • It’s better suited to family camping and longer stays than lightweight camping where keeping your kit to a minimum is the priority.
  • The Campingaz gas cylinder is purchased separately, so remember to factor this into the overall cost and your packing space.

If you’re comparing different ways to cook while camping, we’ve also tested the Campingaz Party Grill 600, which offers a very different style of outdoor cooking and may suit campers looking for a more compact, all-in-one cooking option.

Is the Campingaz Camping Kitchen 2 Multi-Cook worth buying?

After using the Campingaz Camping Kitchen 2 Multi-Cook as our main stove during 17 days of family camping, we would happily take it with us again. For our family of five, its biggest advantage was having three cooking areas available at once. Being able to have two pans on the go while using the griddle made preparing proper family meals at the campsite considerably easier.

It isn’t the most compact choice, so I wouldn’t choose it for lightweight camping or trips where packing space is extremely limited. However, for family camping holidays and longer stays where we set up a proper camping kitchen, we found the extra size worthwhile.

The stove was easy to use, straightforward to clean and gave us enough cooking space for the meals we actually eat as a family. Rather than feeling restricted by cooking on a camping stove, we were able to prepare everything from pasta and curry to sides on the griddle without having to cook each part of the meal separately.

For us, that’s what makes the Campingaz Camping Kitchen 2 Multi-Cook worth considering: it brings much of the flexibility of cooking at home to a family campsite, while still being portable enough to pack away and take on our camping adventures.
