New Schuhs!!

Before Christmas, we were asked if we would like to review Schuh’s children’s collection either in-store or online. Initially, I was going to try online as I hadn’t been shopping in Peterborough for so long and didn’t realise we actually had a Schuh shop now. So post Christmas when I dared to venture to the shops with the tiddlers we found ourselves at the Schuh shop.

From the moment we arrived, we were greeted by two or three of the very friendly staff as we made our way to the children’s section. My first impression was that there weren’t masses of choice for children but as I already had a pretty good idea of what I wanted to get them it didn’t matter, I knew that I wanted to get them some Converse for the Spring. Little Bean and Beanie Boy both set to work looking at the shoes themselves and deciding which ones they wanted to try on and thankfully they seemed to have similar ideas to me.

Despite the shop being extremely busy, I was very impressed by the number of staff available, everywhere I looked there were people in Navy T-shirts with Schuh lanyards so I knew who was the staff and who wasn’t. We were helped by a young girl who set to work on measuring the tiddlers’ feet. Having bought most of the tiddlers’ shoes from Clarks I was used to their way of measuring and giving a width as well as a length measurement. At Schuh, they have a measuring process that is slightly different. The young girl who was serving us admitted that she wasn’t fully aware of the process so she picked up the size guide and followed that. Some people might have considered this to be bad service, that she should have known the process to a ‘t’ but I had to commend her for admitting that she didn’t know it and followed the guide instead. At least that way I knew that she was selecting the right size for my children’s feet.

Little Bean really wanted pink Converse but they didn’t have her size in stock so I was further impressed when the assistant said that they could order them there and then for me to have them delivered to our home address at no additional charge. Beanie Boy chose navy Converse Boots and liked them so much he wanted to keep them on!! The next day Little Bean’s pumps arrived as promised and they fit perfectly, there is enough space in them to fit her through Spring but she could wear them now with slightly thicker socks if we needed her to (not that they are great for snow!).

On arriving home, I decided to have a quick look on Schuh.co.uk and despite my misgivings about the lack of choice instore, I was impressed by the large choice available online and yes, maybe I did have a little look at the women’s shoes too and yes I might have seen a few which have caught my eye . . . watch this space!!

  1. I love Schuh, I would have been too tempted to spend that on myself! Irregular Choice are my absolute favourite, not that I go anywhere to wear them! Didn’t realise they did such small children’s shoes, will have to have a look next time I am in town x
