Why It’s Important to Give to Charity

The holiday season is upon us and many of us are preparing to spend this time surrounded by loved ones and plenty of great food, comforts, gifts and luxuries.

Why It’s Important to Give to Charity

We might be the lucky ones, but not everyone can afford to celebrate—many people don’t have heating, food or clothes to endure the winter. And many animals are also suffering. While you can’t change the system singlehandedly, you can

It helps people and animals in need

The most obvious benefit of charity is your contribution to a cause that can improve the lives of many humans or animals and make the world a better place for everyone. No matter if you’re donating money, time or knowledge, people will benefit from your generosity. For instance, if you fund a scholarship program, kids might get higher education thanks to you. Or if you provide shelter and food, many people will be fed, clothed and protected. Or you might donate to a research facility that is working on eco-friendly solutions or cures for different diseases. In the end, your actions will show a lot of kindness to people and animals all around you.

Oftentimes, people don’t want to donate because they are not sure where the money goes in the public sector, but if you choose the right organization, you will manage to do much more good than you would be able to do alone.

It fills you with positive emotions

Improving the world and helping others usually leads to positive emotions. Donating your time, money and expertise will improve your sense of happiness and wellbeing. Knowing that your actions created a positive change in someone’s life, or in the world in general, can awaken an avalanche of positive emotions. There’s no better way to warm your heart than to receive notice of how you helped someone or improved a certain community. If you ever feel lost in this world but able to help, do so and you will find a new purpose, self-worth and satisfaction in your life.

You will reap many physical, mental and social benefits

If you decide to give your mind and time to charity, you will meet amazing people and broaden your social circle. It’s also possible to do something physical like join a club or prepare for a charity sporting event. If you’re in England, you can join the white collar boxing in London and prepare for a charity fight that will donate a lot of money to great causes. This fight club allows inexperienced boxers to see what it is like to get into that boxing ring and also raise money for their charity. It will also train you hard and allow you to become healthier and happier.

It will make you more passionate about different causes

If you’re passionate about a subject, one of the best things you can do is donate your time and money to this cause. This will give you an opportunity to spend time on something you love and fuel your passion for the subject. For instance, if you love animals, you can give your time to an animal shelter, learn much about the animals and become more educated on how you can help them.

You raise awareness of different issues

When donating to a charitable cause, you must first do some research, discover organizations that support the cause and learn all about their structure and mission. During this process, you’re becoming more educated on the subject. If you choose to organize a donation event, other people will also learn about the cause and you’ll spread important awareness. Raising awareness of social and natural issues is important because it can help fight injustice and contribute to solutions that will take us towards a better world.

Charity is tax-deductible

Taxes

While this might not be the noblest reason to donate to charity, but the truth is that the amount you give to charity is tax-deductible. This doesn’t only include the money you give, but also the money you need for travel, parking, conventions, event and marketing—practically anything that includes the charity. Of course, you can’t be reimbursed by any non-profit organization for your efforts.

Before donating, always check the organizations to avoid fake charity organizations that abuse others’ kindness (even though these are rare). It’s essentially not important how much money or time you will donate to your favourite charity. All that’s truly important is to show appreciation, help those in need and make the world a better place.
