A surprise delivery
Ever since the first lockdown, the postman knocking on the door has been one of our highlights of the day. The kids usually get excited just at the prospect of opening the ‘boring’ essentials Mummy buys, so you can imagine their faces when I say today the postman has actually delivered toys for them. I’d love to see inside the minds of 4 and 2 years old, I imagine they think Mr Postman lives in a house piled high with parcels and picks randomly which one he delivers to you. Well, today it wasn’t random, it was a lovely gift of educational toys from Jaques of London.
Magnetic Calendar
My eldest Olivia, who has recently started school, loved her Magnetic Calendar. Although she can’t read yet, she really enjoyed positioning all the magnetic labels and reports the weather every day. It’s a fun tool that will help her practice what she’s learning at school. If she can update it every morning and let me know what day of the week it is, that would be great!
Snakes and Ladders
When playing Snakes and Ladders it takes me back to my childhood so there was something quite special about playing it with my own children. In my opinion, you can’t beat a classic board game and it certainly saves time not having to read a giant rule book.
It’s great the board is double-sided which allows you to play snakes and ladders and Ludo, but the kids also like lining all the little markers up, so that’s added entertainment! The board and all the pieces are handmade from wood so it’ll stand the test of time, even if your children are as destructive as mine! It’s something I can’t wait to get out over and over again, maybe even to play with my grandchildren one day!
