It might have only been a year since our last visit, but it felt like forever waiting for Russells International Circus to return to Market Deeping. On their 2025 opening night, they dazzled once again under the Big Top, and I can confidently say this family-run spectacular still deserves its title as Britain’s best circus.
Did you know that Russell’s International Circus has been voted Britain’s best circus six years in succession? It’s not just marketing talk – the energy, the talent, and the pure entertainment on offer are outstanding. Plus, they’re based in Mablethorpe, just a short hop from my old hometown of Alford in Lincolnshire, so there’s always a sense of local pride when we go.

A Jam-Packed Circus Show Full of Thrills and Laughter

This year’s brand new circus show for 2025 was completely jam-packed with action from start to finish. The acts came fast and full of energy – jaw-dropping stunts, mesmerising aerial displays, and a whole lot of laughs.
Mesmerising Aerial Displays and Fearless Performers

Daniel Chirita kicked things off with a juggling act that had us gasping – from flaming batons to silver footballs, he didn’t drop a single item! Then came Miss Kizzy with her incredible Corde Lisse routine, swiftly followed by the stunning double trapeze act alongside Miss Sophia, a graduate of the Chermond School of Gymnastics. Both women displayed breathtaking strength and flexibility.
Lucia Candela was the definition of fearless, flying through the air on the aerial cloud swing so fast I couldn’t catch a decent photo. Meanwhile, Las Chicas Morales conquered towering ramps on top of giant globes, showing strength and skill I can only dream of!
Comedy, Fire-Breathing and Audience Giggles

What’s a circus without clowns? Luckily, Alex and Chico Rico are the kind of clowns we love – warm, witty, and totally un-creepy. Alex, who also happens to be the Artistic Director, had us in stitches, while Chico Rico brought a fresh spark to the show.
Antonio Candela’s fire act had us divided – Little Bean wasn’t too sure about the fire and whip-cracking, but I thought his performance was spectacular and full of photo ops. Be warned, though: the paraffin aroma does linger!
There was even some hilarious audience participation, though Little Bean was gutted not to be picked this time. The audience members who did get chosen had us howling with laughter!
A Must-See Venue for Families

Russells International Circus is a two-hour performance with a 15-minute interval, perfect for younger audiences. The venue always offers snacks, drinks, gifts, and even a raffle – don’t forget a bit of pocket money! Our seats gave us a great view, and the atmosphere under the Big Top was electric.
They’ll be heading to Sutton, Trusthorpe, Cleethorpes, and Beccles this season, so check your local circus show dates and locations soon. The ticket prices are excellent value for a show of this quality – it’s no wonder people are calling this the best circus show in the UK.
