Bongos Bingo Lincoln: A Hilarious Night at the Engine Shed

If you’ve ever wondered what Bongos Bingo Lincoln is really like, let me give you the full breakdown from my night there last night with Simon, my mum, and my old friends Nicky, Mark and his wife Lisa. We went in not entirely knowing what to expect, but what we got was a wild mix of nostalgia, chaos, cheesy singalongs, dance offs, and sick prizes.

The Atmosphere

Bongos Bingo Lincoln

From the moment we walked into the Engine Shed — part of the University of Lincoln Students’ Union — the energy was electric. The music was pumping, the lights were flashing, and the crowd was buzzing. It felt like being transported straight back to our twenties, dancing in the clubs until our feet ached.

We didn’t win a prize (though we came so close multiple times), but it hardly mattered. The mix of quirky giveaways like a pink fluffy unicorn, a glitterball helmet, and a space hopper alongside big cash cash money prizes kept the suspense alive. And when number 8 was called and the host shouted “8 Mile”, Eminem’s Lose Yourself blasted out. Within seconds, everyone dropped their pens, jumped up on the benches and belted it out — it was honestly the best cheesy singalong moment I’ve ever experienced.

A Word of Warning

@MummyMatters

Here’s a little warning if you’re heading to Bongo’s Bingo for the first time. The website says not to wear your best outfit — and they aren’t kidding. With all the dancing, drinks do get spilled, the floor can get a little slippery, and if you climb up on the benches (which loads of people do, even though it’s advised against) you’ll want to be careful. It’s loud too, so don’t be surprised if you wake up the next day a little hoarse from all the singing and shouting. Also, if you’re easily offended this might not be for you, there’s the possibility of nudity, a fair bit of bad language but it’s all in good humour so just go with the flow and embrace it I say!

Why You Should Go

Bongos Bingo

The whole thing is a mix of rave, bingo, and total mayhem, and that’s exactly what makes it so unique. It’s not your average night out, and it’s definitely not your average game of bingo. You’ll get a hilarious show, great music, and the chance to win some truly “sick” prizes.

The union did a fantastic job with the organisation, and the location is spot on. We parked at St Mark’s just across the road, making it easy to get to and from. The event finished at 11pm, which was perfect for those of us who wanted to head home — but also great if you fancy hitting Lincoln’s pubs and clubs afterwards to keep the night going.

Upcoming Events

Bongos Bingo Lincoln

If you’re planning on going, I’d say do it — but book in advance, because tickets go fast. There are upcoming shows throughout the year at Lincoln and across the UK, and they sell out quickly for good reason. For specific access enquiries, it’s best to check directly with the Engine Shed team so you’re sorted before the night.

Note: You don’t have to be a student to go — although it’s hosted at the university venue, the crowd was really mixed, with everyone from students to groups of friends and even families looking for a fun night out.

Final Thoughts

We laughed until our faces hurt, sang until we lost our voices, and danced like it was 2002 again. We didn’t take home the jackpot, but the memories were priceless. Would we go again? 100% yes.

If you’re looking for something different to do in Lincoln — or anywhere else in the UK — Bongo’s Bingo is the event you need in your life.
