Review of the Campingaz Camping Kitchen 2 Multicook

This summer, we are embarked on two family camping trips, spanning a total of 17 days, and the Campingaz Camping Kitchen 2 Multicook gas stove became our go-to for meal preparation. As a family of five, we often find cooking on the go a bit challenging, especially when everyone has different preferences. However, this double burner gas stove with an additional griddle provided the flexibility we needed, making our camping experience much smoother.

Setting up the stove was incredibly easy. You just lift the lid, lock the struts to keep it in place, and attach the gas cylinder. We used a larger Campingaz 907 refillable butane gas cylinder, which fit perfectly on the Coleman® cooking stand we brought along. The stove’s size and design make it ideal for family camping trips and longer stays, especially with the double burner and the non-stick griddle providing multiple cooking options. For transportation, we kept the stove in its original box, ensuring it stayed in good condition.

Despite the multiple cooking elements (two burners and the griddle), the stove remained lightweight and portable, which was a huge plus for us when packing and unpacking at various campsites. Even in windy conditions, the Campingaz flameguard protected the burners, ensuring consistent cooking performance.

The Campingaz Multicook features two 1800-watt burners, which provide excellent heat for boiling water and cooking meals simultaneously. This gas stove allowed us to prepare a variety of dishes with ease. For example, we were able to cook pasta and sauce on the double burner while using the hot plate to warm garlic bread and doughballs, all at the same time. This feature proved extremely helpful during our family camping trips when we needed to cater to different tastes and preferences.

One standout feature was the piezo ignition, which made lighting the stove simple and safe. The dual ignition system ensures you can easily get both burners started, without needing matches. Plus, the flame control was excellent, offering better burner performance and lower gas consumption, something we appreciated on our longer stays.

We also noticed that the Camping Kitchen 2 was perfect for larger pans, which is essential when cooking for five people. Whether we were boiling water for pasta or cooking up a curry, the sturdy pan supports ensured that the pots stayed securely in place, even on uneven ground.

Cleaning the stove was simple and straightforward. We found it best to wipe down the camping cooker while it was still warm, which made removing food residues easier. The non-stick surface on the griddle also helped ensure minimal scrubbing. After two family camping trips, the stove still looked brand new, a testament to its build quality and durability.

The Coleman Cooking Stand we paired it with added to the overall convenience. This stand provided a stable base for the stove, even in windy conditions, and had additional space for our 907 refillable gas cylinder. It also featured handy storage shelves and a wind guard, making it ideal for extended camping stays.

One of the surprising benefits of our Camping Kitchen was how much our daughter Lillie enjoyed using it. Despite just having had an operation on her mouth, she found the stove easy to use and even offered to cook meals for the family, giving me a much-needed break from cooking. The stove’s dual piezo ignition and intuitive design made it simple for her to manage, and it felt safe even in the hands of a teenager.

Overall, the Campingaz Camping Kitchen 2 Multicook is a fantastic choice for anyone looking for a versatile, durable, and easy-to-use gas stove for camping. The combination of a double burner with the additional griddle made it easy to cook a variety of meals at once, and its portability and ease of use made it perfect for our family camping trips. The 907 refillable butane gas cylinders, which are sold separately, provided a steady fuel source, ensuring we never ran out of gas during our extended stays.

If you’re planning a family camping adventure or longer stays and need a reliable gas stove that can accommodate large pans and various cooking styles, the Campingaz Camping Kitchen 2 is the perfect option. Its thoughtful design, efficient gas usage, and sturdy build make it one of the best choices for a portable camping kitchen. Whether you’re boiling water, grilling, or using the griddle, this stove ensures you’ll get the best cooking results every time.
