What did I do before the Bissell SpotClean came into my life?

Well, I’ve said it before and I shall say it again, I am very lucky as a blogger to receive the opportunities that I do. My latest ‘review item’ arrived in the form of the Bissell SpotClean portable spot cleaner, it was one of those items that I knew I would be able to use immediately as my mind wandered to Little Bean’s bedroom carpet and the myriad of make-up stains that she has accumulated since family and friends started buying her the demon stuff a little over a year ago. I thought that once I had got rid of those stains it would be one of those luxury items that you don’t really have to have but it would come in handy. Well, it arrived at the back end of the Summer holidays as we were packing up our camping stuff to head off for a final camping trip.

When I unpackaged the SpotClean I decided that I would keep the box so that I could package it away again once I had finished using it to keep it in tiptop condition in the garage until it was next called upon. Well, that was a few weeks ago and the box is still sitting empty as the SpotClean is slowly making its way around the house. It even went on holiday to my Mum’s house so that she could clean her lounge rug. Honestly, I kid you not the SpotClean has become an invaluable piece of cleaning kit that I won’t be packing away anytime soon. You have noticed that I have four children right? Well, as house-trained as I think I’ve got those little darlings, they still manage to drop food, drink, make-up, pens . . . you name it they’ve drop it on the carpets, on the soft furnishings. Jelly Bean was sick all over the lounge rug  . . . which was nice!! Even Hubby managed to drip RED paint on the carpet in the boys bedroom when decorating last weekend. As you can imagine, I was ever so chuffed about that one!

Each time the Bissell SpotClean has proved it is more than capable of the job. The only stain I haven’t been able to get rid of so far is the makeup which is ever-so-slightly under Little Bean’s wardrobe and that’s only because I can’t get the attachment under the wardrobe so that will have to wait until I feel strong enough to move the wardrobe.

It’s soooooooo easy to use too, filling up the fluid resevoir is as easy as 1, 2, 3! Just top up the water to the water level with hot water from the tap (not the kettle), then add the Boost fluid to the next line and finally the formula to the third line. Pop the resevoir back into place, plug it in and you’re ready to go. Once you have switched on the unit you depress the red button on the handle to spray the cleaning solution onto the stain and then hoover and brush the stain out with the hoover attachment, it’s that simple! Jelly Bean says it’s a bit too noisy but then he doesn’t like vacuum cleaners full stop, I personally am very impressed.

When I filled it up ready for first use, I opted for the larger quantity as I thought I would be cleaning lots of different areas but I could easily have got away with only topping up to the lower level fluid lines. A little goes a very long way! The Bissell SpotClean is the perfect size for sprucing up the carpet on the stairs too, I cleaned my stair carpet from top to bottom in less than half an hour and the difference was clear to see.

Once you have finished cleaning it is really easy to empty and clean out the water tanks (if not a little grim when emptying the dirty container) and then the hose and lead all wrap around the unit and clip into place so it can be stored away neatly until the next time you need to use it.

RRP £129.99 (and worth every penny).
