Truckfest 2018 Fun and Frolics

Last year was the first time that we had visited Truckfest and it was a unanimous opinion that it rocked, we all loved it. We were invited back to review Truckfest again this year so would it live up to our memories of last year?

Royal Air Force Trucks

Truckfest

There was no holding the Beans back when they spotted the Royal Air Force trucks which were huge. Lillie and Ollie couldn’t wait to climb up into the cab and pop up through the hole in the roof. The RAF guys were really friendly and approachable, they were brilliant with children.

James Dylan Stunt World

Truckfest

We loved watching the motorcycle stunts last year and so we made sure we were in the stands in time to see the James Dylan Stunt World which didn’t disappoint.

Oklahoma Willy

Oklahoma Willy

Whilst walking around Truckfest we ran into my blogging friend Blogging Mummy who asked if we had seen Oklahoma Willy yet. We said that we hadn’t but it was on our ‘to do’ list and she advised that it was one not to be missed but warned that it does get VERY loud.

Well, Rachel was not wrong. Oklahoma Willy is the concoction of my all-time favourite VW Splitty but with a real jet engine on the back. The VW itself looks stunning but nothing could have prepared us for what we were about to see. The crowds were warned over and over that it gets really noisy and it does. As the engine heats up the sound goes through you and as you can see from the pics above, the power which comes out of that engine is immense. I felt a little sorry for those who were downwind and got blasted with dust and debris from the tracks.

It was an amazing attraction to watch BUT it did make us all a little nervous, especially when the van started to twitch slightly and began to move it’s position. If you get a chance to watch Oklahoma Willy, do, you won’t be disappointed.

Red Hot Chilli Pipers

Red Hot Chilli Pipers

I am going to apologise in advance to any Scots reading this post, I am not usually a fan of the bag pipes, the sound just always seems to irritate my ears. That was until we watched the Red Hot Chilli Pipers who were awesome. Albie actually declared that they were his favourite part of the day, that boy does love music. They really got the crowd foot tapping and singing along and knew how to put on a great show.

Monster Trucks

Monster Trucks

Truckfest wouldn’t be Truckfest without the likes of Slingshot and Swamp Thing. We definitely let the best until last during our day and loved them as much this year as we did last year.

Custom Trucks

Truckfest

The artwork which goes into the amazing custom trucks really is astonishing but this year we felt there were a lot less artistic trucks on display which was a little disappointing. Nonetheless, this the pick of the Beans’ favourites;

Lillie and Albie

Truckfest

For Lillie it was a no-brainer when she spotted the Frozen truck and as we rounded the side Albie jumped with joy when he spotted his beloved Olaf so that was both of them sold.

Ollie

Truckfest

Ollie is our Pirates of the Caribbean fan and was blown away when we spotted this Salazar’s Revenge truck. Poor Albie was slightly freaked out by some of the characters but he said that he liked the ‘blue’.

Truckfest

Further around the trucks Ollie became torn when he spotted not only a Suicide Squad truck but a Transformers and Avengers trucks so he declared they were all his favourites. I also spotted the Avatar truck which was pretty impressive.

Who ya gonna call?

Ecto 1

There were squeals all round when we stumbled across Ecto 1 accompanied by Slimer and a couple of Ghostbusters. Initially Albie was a little unsure of Slimer and Ollie feeding him his hand didn’t help matters but luckily a nice Ghostbuster lady was on hand to allay his fears.

Cars on show

Truckfest

I do love a good vintage car and there were certainly a lot of those on display looking might fine.

Truckfest

The children all loved the Coca Cola van but were slightly perturbed by the fella who looked like he had been riding his trike for too long.

Action Sports Tour

Action Sports Tour

We stumbled across Action Sports Tour just as we were about to head home and we were so pleased that we did. What a seriously brave and talented bunch of guys, they really knew how to wow the crowd and keep you entertained.

All the fun of the fair

Truckfest

Nope that’s not me in there but there were lots of willing people ready to be catapulted into the air and a host of other fun rides for thrill seekers.

Truckfest

A little closer to ground the Beans had fun on the bouncy castles and slides. This however was the part of the day which we were least impressed with, the cost was £4 for 5 minutes which didn’t last very long at all. The staff were not very pleasant either and we witnessed a few people getting into arguments with them because of their manner.
