The Original Theraline Maternity and Nursing Pillow – a MUST HAVE!!

After complaining of feeling like a zombie through these last few months of pregnancy due to lack of sleep and discomfort, I was sent a Theraline Maternity and Nursing Pillow to test and review.  I wanted to buy this item during my first pregnancy but never got around to it.  Instead, I used to lay on a row of four cushions, which (a) still wasn’t comfortable and (b) were never there in the morning because they had fallen out of the bed!

Maternity Pillow Needed!

The Original Theraline Maternity and Nursing Pillow – a MUST HAVE!! 1

I intended to buy a maternity pillow this time but just haven’t had time to go near baby shops or do the research, so the Theraline Maternity Pillow could not have come at a better time for me.

Introducing the Theraline Maternity Pillow

When the box arrived, I thought it would weigh a tonne, but no, it was weightless, and I couldn’t wait for bedtime to come so I could give it a whirl.  I even switched off my laptop an hour earlier than usual because I was going to “read a book” before switching my light out to get to bed!  The pillow comes with a brightly coloured removable pillowcase for ease of washing.  Mine is the yellow one with flowers on it.  What I like about the pillowcase designs is that they don’t shout out “baby pillow”, so you can have years of use once you no longer need it for maternity and nursing.  It can become a cosy pillow to snuggle into whilst reading a book or back support for those hours spent sitting on the sofa with a laptop on your knee (when the kids are in bed, of course!).

Getting a Good Night’s Sleep

The pillow is very long to give you full body support.  I had felt very “unbalanced” in bed over the last few weeks.  I’ve always slept on my front, and so, of course, once the bump starts to show, this becomes impossible.  Yet when laying on my side, I either feel like I’m squashing the bump or, in some cases, about to fall out of the bed because I keep rolling onto my back and forgetting that I’m not as small as I used to be.  The Theraline pillow has a slightly curved shape but is so manoeuvrable you can manipulate it into any shape you want to suit you.

The best way to describe the lining of the pillow is somewhat like a bean bag, only smoother and with no noise.  It moulds to your body shape and supports you where you need it.  The thing that I noticed from the first night that I used the pillow is that I didn’t move all night; I woke up in precisely the same position as I had gone to sleep, which means I was comfortable in my book.  Of course, now that I’m getting bigger and have to take many more trips to the toilet at night, I’m still waking, but thanks to the Theraline pillow, I’m falling back into a blissful sleep much quicker than before.

The Theraline Maternity and Nursing Pillow retails at around £45-£50, which isn’t bad when you consider how much use you will get out of it and as any mother knows, sleep is priceless!

  1. Wow that looks comfy!! I’ve just done a review of wedge style pillow which is working great for now – but once I get bigger and bigger and bigger that may just be the way to go!

    • It really is comfy, I had one of the bump wedges to begin with which was great but once the bump got bigger I definitely needed more stability for my legs and this pillow provided it. I would definitely recommend getting one! x

    • They’re great aren’t they (and when they start to take over your side of the bed you can just stick them on the floor!!) 😉
