Review: Zeamu Music CD

How often are you driving along in your car, merrily listening to a new CD when suddenly an expletive blasts out and you hit the ‘off’ button as fast as your fingers will allow you in the vain hope that your children didn’t hear it. That happened to Hubby just a few weeks ago whilst out with the tiddlers, he was listening to a CD he had been given only for the song lyrics to be less than perfect for young ears. He hit the ‘off’ button, looked at the tiddlers in the mirror thinking he had got away with it when suddenly Little Bean announced

“F***, that’s a naughty word isn’t it Daddy?”

Understandably Hubby was shrinking in his seat. Little Bean is now of the age where she is really picking up on song lyrics and repeating them, I’m sure many of you will have already seen my videos of Little Bean and Beanie Boy singing their favourite pop songs. It doesn’t take much for the lyrics to stick in their heads does it?

Natalie Barowitz, a Music Producer, recognised the need for music aimed specifically at children aged 4-11 years. Babies, toddlers and pre-schoolers have nursery rhymes and lullabies but there isn’t really anything for primary school age children. Natalie joined forces with a Child Psychologist and other song writers to produce Zeamu Music to fill that gap in the market.

When the CD arrived I didn’t make a big deal about it, I just switched it for the CD already residing in the stereo, pressed play and waited for their reaction. After a few minutes Little Bean asked what the CD was and I said that it was one which I had been asked to listen to. I asked her what she thought of it and she said “I need to listen to it first” – really!!

The CD has since disappeared into her bedroom and has stayed in her stereo for a couple of weeks which to me says it’s a hit. Quite appropriately her favourite song at the moment is the one about Summer Holidays! I am so pleased that she likes it because I really don’t want my children growing up too soon, I want them to keep their innocence for as long as possible. Zeamu Music is a Mummy Matters winner!
