Jelly Bean’s 1st Birthday Celebrations

1st Birthday

I have always felt sorry for the children who are born so soon after Christmas, it’s really hard to know what to buy them and I often feel that they have been cheated out of a birthday in some respects. The thing that I found hardest for celebrating Jelly Bean’s first birthday was that it was too cold outside to have a barbeque or garden party as we had done previously for Little Bean and Beanie Boy. His actual birthday fell on a Friday so we only celebrated with the immediate family with a small birthday cake to mark the occasion.

He got off to a good start opening his presents although Little Bean and Beanie Boy found the temptation to open his presents for him a little too hard to take at times. Just like most baby’s Jelly Bean found the wrapping paper much more appealing that the actual presents so the tiddlers were able to have a bit of time to explore his presents whilst he amused himself with the rubbish!

When it came to his birthday tea, unfortunately he is teething so he has lost his appetite at the moment but he revelled in the attention of everyone singing happy birthday to him, he even began clapping as he was getting so excited but when he was unable to blow out the candle himself and I did it for him, he looked disgusted with me as though I had completely ruined the atmosphere. Oh dear!

The following day we threw a party at home for family which was a success. All of the children played together really nicely and Jelly Bean was thoroughly spoilt with some beautiful gifts. Again he was more interested in the wrapping paper and at one point began to get agitated with me for encouraging him to open more presents.

Jelly Bean’s 1st Birthday Party finished with a cake made by myself, again he loved all the attention and the singing, such a happy little fella.
