Easy Clean Highchair from Fisher Price

Some might argue that I’m a bit OCD when it comes to high chairs, but it’s one thing that I can’t stand. It literally turns my stomach. When I used to eat out with Little Bean, I would carry a pack of Milton Wipes wherever I went because, let’s face it, highchairs in cafes and restaurants are never as clean as you would like them to be!

There are so many health risks associated with dirty highchairs in public spaces, just imagine all the germs lurking in the nooks and crannies of the fabric creases and the straps, even the corners of some of the trays aren’t great and they are the easiest parts to clean. They could all do with a visit from a good commercial cleaning company to give them the once over.

The problem with highchairs

But it’s not just out and about that I like an easy, clean high chair. I’m always attacking the highchair at home with the antibacterial spray. For one thing, I love the smell!! When Little Bean used a highchair, we had the usual straps, which are on most, and I hated that the food would get mushed into the straps’ fibres. In the end, I used to combat this by always having Little Bean in long-sleeved bibs over the top of the straps. Her highchair also had lots of nooks and crannies where the food would get stuck, and once she was old enough to sit on a booster seat, I jumped at it and threw the highchair out because I knew that I wouldn’t want to use it again.

Easy Clean Highchair

Easy Clean High Chair

As the time was approaching to get a new highchair for Beanie Boy, I was offered a new Easy Clean Highchair from Fisher-Price to review. The title in itself sold it to me immediately.

When it arrived, I actually felt excited about putting it to the test, something I never thought I would hear myself say as I hate mealtimes with my children – too much mess to contend with!

Packed with positives

Within 15 minutes, I built the Easy Clean highchair without having to read the instructions. It was so simple. The highchair is very adaptable as it has four height adjustments, and the seat can recline for younger children, all done very easily with buttons on the side of the chair.

The tray is nice and big, which gave Beanie Boy lots of room to play with his food and explore what was put in front of him. It can be removed from the seat with two hands using levers on either side of the tray or just using one hand with a lever at the front of the tray, which is ideal if you have your little one in your arms. It also has a lift-off top tray that can go into the dishwasher for easy cleaning.

Wipe Clean Fabric and Straps

The fabric of the seat was wiped clean and made in a unisex material of jungle animals in bright colours. The best part about the highchair, though, has to be the 5-point straps made from a rubberised material that is totally wipe-clean and has nowhere for the food to get trapped or mushed. They are easily adjustable by opening and closing clips on the reverse of the chair. The seat has a nice high back and deep sides for comfort.

For me, the only downside to the Easy Clean highchair is that the base is rather large, so it needs space to be used, but it does fold up quite well for storage.

Priced at around £100, I think it is very fairly priced in the marketplace too.

  1. Hi ur review seems great! Just wondered what age u would say this chair would upto?also can the tray be adjusted or is it on or off? Our little girl is a slim 1 yr old currently in a wooden highchair but she keeps sliding out even with 2 reins on! She needs the post between legs to stop her! Was attracted to this as it says easy clean!!!x

    • Hi, thanks for your lovely comment. I think this would easily fit a child around two years – my daughter has just turned 3 and she is on the slim side and can fit in it. The tray can be adjusted, it has 3 settings and sounds like it would be perfect for your daughter, I don’t think she would be able to escape from it!!
The easy clean is definitely a winner for me!
If you do buy one I’d love to hear what you think so please pop back and let me know xx

  2. You just beat me in the time it took to build! I received this highchair after winning your fab competition. It took me 20mins to build – but I did have to look for a longer handle screwdriver half way through building. It’s a great highchair. Like you, I hate the nooks and crannies in some highchairs that all the bits of food can hide (I used to take my old chair seat cover out in to the garden to spray it with the garden house to try to pressure wash the bits out of all the corners!) – there doesn’t seem to be any here. Everything is really smooth, so all food splats are simply wiped off. The tray is actually a little smaller than my old highchair, but I like that, it has a better fit around our table as a result. Sadly for us, the removable tray top doesn’t really fit nicely in our dishwasher, but that’s a minor issue.
    Thanks again. x

    • I hope you’re getting on ok with the chair and loving it as much as I do. The tray is on the large side for the dishwasher but it fits across the top rack in mine so I’m good. Congratulations again on winning xx
