Yesterday morning I popped into John Lewis at Queensgate in Peterborough to check out the new GHD Glide which was released yesterday. The Glide is a Professional Hot Brush designed to tame and smooth dry hair quickly and with ease so second hair day never looked or felt so good. The ceramic technology with ioniser heats to the optimum styling temperature of 185ºC consistently across the brush to give you healthy looking hair. It’s a well-known fact that ions help to eliminate frizz in just a few quick strokes of the long and short bristles on the Glide. The long bristles brush the hair whilst the shorter bristles are the heat plates which tame and style the hair.
I got my first GHD wide plate hair straighteners when I was a teenager with straight hair down to my waist and I still have them today. Then in my 30’s my Mum bought me a Limited Edition set of narrow plate GHDs in a beautiful green Peacock bad and they are still the ones that I use on a regular basis. I have tried other brands but nothing comes close in my opinion so I was really keen to see what the GHD Glide had to offer. I try to be kind to my hair by not straightening it every day but as you can see from the image above, my second-day hair has a kink to it. If I am just at home then I will leave it or tie it up but if I am heading out then I will always straighten (or curl) my hair for a more finished look.
From sitting in the chair yesterday morning to get started and taking the finished photograph took less than 10 minutes. It really was just a case of holding the hair taut in sections and brushing the hair slowly with the Glide. As Zofia was brushing my hair you could see it straightening and adding shine. The finished look was far more polished and yet natural. As I said above I love my straighteners but sometimes it can feel a little overstyled and I long for a more natural blow-dried look which I am unable to achieve with a blowdryer myself. I loved the finished look with the GHD Glide so I guess that’s another item to add to my growing wishlist!
Peace of Mind
Anyone who has ever owned a heated styling tool will know that dread when you leave the house and ask yourself “did I turn them off?”. Well GHD has thought that one through, the Glide will automatically go into sleep mode which will turn the Glide off after 60 minutes of non-use.
