Frugal living often means sticking to strict budgets and picking the cheaper option. Of course, when it comes to a big celebration, that rule often goes out the window. You want to have a fantastic event that is as special as it can be. You might feel that can’t be done with frugality in mind, but it can. Would you dare to DIY your big celebration event?

There are plenty of benefits to doing things yourself when it comes to organising a party. They go far beyond the money-saving part of it too. When you tackle things like catering, you’ll know what the kids are eating because you prepared it yourself. Making the decorations yourself is also a fun activity to share with your children. This extra quality time together could be just what you need!

DIY Candle Making

Whether you’re celebrating a birthday or hosting a formal event, you can get creative by making beautiful, unique candles at home while being frugal. DIY candle making kits are a great way to add a personal touch to any celebration! With a range of styles, scents, and colours, you can create custom candles to match any theme you have in mind.

DIY Cake Stand

You don’t have to tackle the whole event yourself if you don’t want to. It might be simpler to approach one or two things this time around. For example, if you’re willing to bake the cake, why not create a custom party cake stand? You can even make your own decorations as cake toppers for a fully bespoke treat.

Catering

Party food

Catering for a big event like a party can be quite challenging. However, it’s worth tackling it yourself for the peace of mind it offers. When you’re trying to stick to healthy options, party food can be tough to swallow! Of course, there is plenty of fun treats you can make with fruit and vegetables like these that are delicious.

Party Decorations

Homemade decorations and ideas are plentiful on the internet. You can cut out your favourite pictures and images to create a decorative banner if you have old greeting cards. Push a hole through each one with the sharp end of a pencil. You can then thread a length of string through. Tie a knot on either side of each card to hold them in place. If you have time, try a second length on one side of each card to twist them to a forward-facing position. This can be done with your own designs, copies of family photos, or simple coloured cards.

What about the event itself? Planning an event goes beyond food and drinks. You also need to consider the structure of the event and any activities you want to plan. Perhaps you have an entertainer in mind? You could choose to manage this side of things yourself as well. If you don’t fancy getting up and singing or playing a musical instrument, your personal selection of music will do. If there are children at the party, consider a couple of active games to keep them entertained.

Any event will take a bit of careful planning to make it successful. You can do this yourself, saving you money. It also gives you a chance to make your event happen exactly the way you want it. Celebrate!
