Creating my dream Christmas cottage . . .

Christmas is never more special than when children are involved, their anticipation, imagination and excitement just make it all so magical. I am doing all that I can to keep the magic of Christmas alive for them and there has been one thing each year that I have never dared to attempt myself and that’s a Gingerbread House.

Growing up my favourite fairytale was Hansel and Gretel, I do happen to have quite a sweet tooth so that idea of a gorgeous little cottage tucked away in the woods made completely out of gingerbread and covered in sweets and crunchy icing sounded like my idea of heaven. Have you ever thought about how much it would cost to build your own life-sized Gingerbread House? Well, for those of you who, Sykes Cottages have done all the calculations for you and at just £66,037.05 I think it sounds like a pretty good deal although I’m not completely sure about how weather-proof it would be.

To add to the fun of considering building a dream Gingerbread House, we were sent a kit to make our very own Gingerbread House which I absolutely loved doing with Little Bean’s help this morning. Ours is a house which sits on the edge of a lake, surrounded by trees and covered in snow, sweets and treats – perfect!
