Baobab: The New Superfruit

Health enthusiasts are constantly on the lookout for the next big superfood, and Baobab might just be the star they’re searching for. I’ll be the first to admit that my fruit game is pretty basic: apples, bananas, strawberries, raspberries, and melon – and even these don’t feature in my diet as often as they should. I guess you could call me a bit lazy when it comes to eating healthily. Those fruits do sit in my bowl, looking pretty, but they rarely make it to my plate unless there’s absolutely nothing else in the house to munch on.

Baobab: The New Superfruit 2

Now, let’s talk about Baobab – also known as the Upside Down Tree. This ancient, life-giving tree produces a fruit that’s a powerhouse of nutrients. It boasts 6x the vitamin C of oranges, 6x the antioxidants of blueberries, 6x the potassium of bananas, and 2x the calcium of milk. Not to mention, it has 0.2mg more iron than red meat, making it an ideal supplement for vegetarians.

The Baobab Fruit is available in powder form, which is super versatile. It can be turned into a drink or added to food – perfect for sneaking in those nutrients, especially if you’ve got picky eaters like I do (though it helps if you can prep their food without them scrutinizing your every move). I’ve managed to add some Baobab Powder into Little Bean and Beanie Boy’s yoghurt incognito, and I must admit, it feels quite satisfying to feed them a superfruit unbeknownst to them.

You can also mix it into flapjacks and sprinkle it into juice, cereals, or smoothies. The recommended daily serving is just 1 tablespoon, so you can easily spread it out over the day. With about 50 servings per tub costing £14.69, it works out to only 29p per serving – a bargain for such a nutritional boost!

Baobab is 100% natural, organic, and sustainably sourced. So, not only are you doing something great for your family’s health, but you’re also being kind to the environment.
