A little spend never hurts . . .

I’ve had some great experiences since starting to write my blog, from getting a new hairdo to having amazing family holidays and lots in between. I think it’s so important for mums to be able to enjoy themselves, both with their children and alone. After all, mummys matter too! As much as I love spending time with my family, I also enjoy a chance to be myself.

Mummy MattersWhen I do get the chance to spoil myself, I must admit I take the opportunity. However, there are times when I feel guilty that I’ve spent money on myself rather than the family, and I know every woman with children understands how I feel. It really is important for us to relax too, though, so we can be the best mums to our kids. It got me thinking about spending and I came across a video about tactics people use to keep their spending a secret from their partner. There have often been times when I’ve splashed out on something for myself and kept the receipt tucked away in my bag. The original video shows that many people in relationships do the same thing. Many would tell a white lie about how much they spend on an item so their partner doesn’t think any less of them. I wondered whether Hubby would be angry if he knew about my secret little spends?

I do believe it’s important for you and your partner to be completely honest with each other and, after telling Hubby this morning, he laughed and said I deserve the extra luxuries. I can see why I married him! He also told me about a great tool I can use to check my credit rating and make sure my (sometimes irresponsible) spending has not affected my credit score. You can follow the link to get your own credit report. The site also gives you very useful advice on how to improve your rating if it isn’t what you expected. I can’t believe I haven’t done this before now.

So today I’ll discover whether my spending has had an effect on my credit rating. I’ll either be opening the champagne or safely tucking away my credit card for a little while!
